Margaret Schwartz of and Tori Jones of sat down with the New York Design Center to discuss their spaces at , their shared passion for antiquities, and the journey that brought them into the world of antiques.
After hearing about one another through mutual acquaintances, Margaret and Tori met at the New York Design Center, where they quickly formed a supportive friendship. They bonded over their shared passion for vintage antiques, demonstrating how an appreciation for the past can inspire a meaningful and modern friendship.
Margaret, the founder of the Modern Antiquarian, entered the antiques industry somewhat unexpectedly. What began as a chance discovery and an antiques tour quickly evolved into a deep appreciation for antiquities. Margaret spotlights dealers such as Toma Clark Haines of Antiques Diva and Gail McLeod as some of her inspirations. With her new love of antiques, she made the decisive move to transition her retail store into a full-time antiques business. Since then, Modern Antiquarian has grown into a flourishing antiques business, now occupying a space at the New York Design Center.
Margaret and Tori continue to cultivate and share their enthusiasm for vintage and antique pieces, welcoming and inspiring new customers each day.
