But the truth is, consumers, don't really care to hear it.

Now, don't get me wrong. Is it important to have PR and case studies? Yes.

But should the front page of your website or landing page be about you?
Absolutely not.

The first thing consumers want to know is that you understand how they are feeling and that you are going to care about them.

Ask yourself, on my website and in my marketing materials, am I talking directly to the pains and desires of my ideal audience? Or am I just talking about how great I am?

If you notice that you are, in fact, ignoring your ideal customer by not speaking directly to them in your copy, and rather, speaking about yourself, the first thing to do is to halt all advertising dollars and redo your copy (or get a copywriter that can help you) and express how much you truly care about your customers.

Do avatar emersion exercises, directly message your customers about their opinions, or run polls on your pages to help you identify what they TRULY want from your product or service. Speak to their emotions. Really learn to care about them.

Use your impressive reviews and case studies on the bottom of your landing page and website as a means to add persuasion for the ones still needing a bit more convincing.

New clients often say to me, I am struggling to get reviews!

But get this. ANY comment anyone makes, whether it is a positive comment on your page, a raving email directly to you, or a hashtagged comment ....you can use this content anywhere on your website (and even for your ads!)

What some companies don't realize is that it is MUST make a conscious effort to get people to leave reviews and engage on your pages. Ask them questions on your social media and respond to their answers.

Send buyers a personal email asking what they thought of your product or service. Chances are, even when you are just starting out, someone will have something nice to say about their experience if you provided a good one.

Make sure you also automate an email send to each of your purchasing customers, asking them to tag your company on social media or leave a review on your site.

You can even offer them a discount on their next purchase or offer a free item for leaving a raving review. (reviews are SO important, the few bucks you spend rewarding people for them will be worth it!)

Reviews are the most effective way to convince your audience that this product is worth buying.

Consider creating a unique hashtag for your company that your customers can use when raving about your product.

You can mention in your bio the perks of using the hashtag or leaving a review. (Make sure you keep good track of this. Reward and praise those doing it!)

Remember, positive reviews are one of THE most important parts of your website or landing page, so make a BIG effort to get them!

When it comes to marketing for your business, it is vital to know the important do's and don't's before you start.

We've put together a list of some very basic things you need to know before starting a marketing campaign for your business!

If you are already doing some of these things in your business, it's ok! Don't beat yourself up about it. These tips are not meant to overwhelm or shame you but to open your mind to things you may not have thought about.

Know that the marketing world is constantly changing, and things that used to work, no longer work anymore.
