We had the opportunity to head the product shoot for their “Wolf Prayer Blanket” 🐺
“The nimiipuu people were the first in the country to help restore wolves to their homeland and protect them as valued family.
These unique blankets, help raise awareness, build a physical connection between those purchasing them, and generate a new funding source for our Wood River Wolf Project’s coexistence work and new energy for coexistence!
The blanket designer is Mikailah Thompson, a nimíipuu tribal member and a respected artist specializing in traditional indigenous design.
The mountains represent nimiipuu elder Charles Hayes statement that the ‘mountains still remember the wolf and will welcome them home’. The running wolves represent nimiipuu elder Levi Holt’s efforts to dream back the ‘wolf dance’ for his people that was lost during their occupation. He organized the Running Wolf Powwow in 2012 to showcase the dance and honor of wolves. He was an incredible food player as well.
The blanket signifies safety and comfort, like a physical prayer manifesting safety for the wild world struggling today to survive against bad politics and archaic hatred. Each blanket will include a blessing for the protection of our wolves, and we hope you will add your own each time you wrap up in one of these beautiful blankets.” -WCN
