Don't let your business be a "Missed Connection"

When I was in my early 20s, I'd scour Craigslist missed connections.

We're a few of them a little creepy? Sure...but, I would LOVE reading the sweet ones.

"Our hands brushed as we reached for the Brussel sprouts on Tuesday morning, cook dinner together?"

"You're a terrible driver and almost hit my car, but you definitely caught my attention and the way your blonde hair caught the sunlight, coffee sometime? I'll pick you up so you're not on the road..."

I would just imagine the good ones panning out to a fun date, and maybe a lifelong romance.

Then, one day as I was browsing the stories I saw one "We were ice skating and you ran into me, you had on a red scarf and leather leggings, I'd love to meet you"

WAIT - I WAS ICE SKATING LAST WEEK...I HAD A RED SCARF ON...I HAD LEATHER LEGGINGS!!!

I emailed the anonymous email back and before I knew it, we were sitting across from each other drinking coffee.

Was it about me? It was!

Was there a spark of love? Not AT ALL...

Did it make for a good story? YES!

What does this have to do with your business and Marketing? Your ideal person, your perfect client might be scouring the WRONG places looking for you...

Just imagine, your ideal client is out there, searching for a solution to their problem. You're EXACTLY who they need, but they're looking in the wrong places.

Just like a missed connection, you might be right under their nose, but they'll never know.

You need to learn where your perfect client is searching and put yourself in front of them.

A few ways you can do this:

❤️ Ask, Ask, Ask: Don't be afraid to directly ask your clients. Surveys and questionnaires can provide invaluable insights.

❤️ Listen to the Conversation: Use social media monitoring tools to track discussions related to your industry. What topics are hot right now?

You need to be capturing their attention where they're already at instead of being like all of those poor posters who were searching for their missed opportunities' in all the wrong places.

We were supposed to be on a moving cross-country today, but my 7-year-old son just got out of the hospital after 5 days with a 105-degree fever and no clear answers...

It's been a harsh reminder that I've been neglecting my own business amidst all the hustle.

I've realized that if my hands aren't on the wheel & it's not MY foot on the gas...no one is driving my business forward.

I've had to face a hard truth: I've spent years automating systems for others, but I've yet to apply those same strategies to my own life.

It's like I've been driving a car without a GPS - just reacting to every twist and turn instead of navigating with intention.

But I'm done living in chaos. I'm done living in the reaction instead of the action...

So, here's what I'm doing RIGHT NOW, as in...tonight:

I'm taking the same automation strategies I've used to transform businesses and applying them to my own life.

⭐ I'm scheduling my time with intention.

⭐ Batching content so that I'm prepared instead of radio silent for months at a time.

⭐Buttoning up my funnels so that there's no leaks.

⭐ Pushing play on my ads & optimizing instead of turning off when my calendar fills up.

⭐ Finding the help that can move my clients forward on the days that life hits.

It's time to treat my own business with the same love and care I give to my clients

When someone says "I've been doing this for 20 years!" and then you see on their LinkedIn that they were managing a pizza place 3 years ago and that they, in fact have maybe 3(ish) years of experience...

I feel like marketing today is a ton of that. A ton of overinflation of truth and that's why it's gotten so much harder in the online industry.

It's like the boy who cried wolf, but in this case, all the coaches and consultants who cried results, promises, and experiences that fell short.

We've all been guilty of rolling our eyes at those exaggerated claims, wondering how many wolves are hiding in sheep's clothing.

But here's the twist: the boy who cried wolf was telling the truth that last time. He was devoured by the wolf because no one believed him.

Similarly, many coaches and consultants are genuine, hardworking, and dedicated to their clients. They're the real deal, but their voices are drowned out by the false promises.

So, how do we give those awesome, genuine coaches and consultants the spotlight they deserve? How do we make marketing more about real results and less about exaggerated claims?
