I had a dream on Jessica’s birthday.

It was a story about ALS—about the way things were before, and how this disease came like a thief and stole her precious time and life.

The dream was about beauty. About flowers and growth, seeds and planting. About what remains when everything else is taken away.

I’ve been writing nonstop for the last week. I wrote a short story—something I’ve never done before—but I think it captures Jessica’s life and what it was all about.

Please read this. She deserves your attention. She deserves your love. She deserves your caring.

And most of all, the people living with this disease called ALS deserve it as well.

I thought my Father was gone but his spirit reappears everyday in the shape of my son. Happy happy happy birthday Jacob. You are the best of us. Kind, talented, musical, loving, happy, and caring. On my birthday a while back you said, “let me be your hands”, after a medical tradjedy, please continue to do so. I have never enjoyed performing or playing music with someone more, well except for my Dad, and you are the spirit of him! Love ya kid!
