AIGA Las Vegas celebrates 25 years.
How wonderful this is +!+
Twenty-five years ago I moved to Las Vegas. Not knowing much about our advertising and graphic community, I inquired about our new chapter and was subsequently invited to become a member. Little did I know this would lead to Membership Director, President, Work Show Director, and Advisory Board Lead roles. Attending Leadership Retreats was a highlight each year as we learned about other chapters. We discovered we had many shared issues and successes. We were advised that building strong relationships with sponsors and developing stellar programming was key in building and maintaining a solid chapter.
I loved the challenge of producing our Work Show for several years. Working with the City of Las Vegas in naming and creating an identity for the our arts district was a wonderful experience. 18b Las Vegas Arts District was created by super dedicated AIGA Las Vegas design leaders, so rewarding. Right after this, we worked with the Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs in rebranding the Las Vegas Book Festival. As leader of our AIGA Advisory Board, we invited business leaders to help us create some much needed and well-received programs, dealing with topics such as environmental issues, nationally recognized design leaders, running a design business, and more.
I met many enthusiastic designers over the years, together we worked tirelessly to bring many events, speaking engagements, and educational presentations to our design community. I thank all of our past and present board members, sponsors, supporters, and our members. I wish everyone a wonderful celebration. Sadly, I will miss it as I will be on a birthday vacation.
Here’s to the next 25 years +!+
