Hey folks,
I'm here today to talk briefly about prepping artwork when getting ready to place a screen printing order. The reason why this is so important when thinking about your order is cost. The price of your order is going to increase significantly if your artwork has tons of colors or color photography. The best type of file to have when screen printing is a vector file. These are commonly associated with programs such as Adobe Illustrator & Corel Draw. With vector files, you can scale them as huge or as tiny as you would like without losing quality in the artwork. You can also use Adobe Photoshop files or .jpg but the quality won't be as crisp. If you want full color photography done, you will need to have them printed using a method known as simulated process color printing. In this method, your artwork will be broken down into 4 separate screens using Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black inks and will be printed in mostly overlapping halftones to give the effect of all the different colors in the spectrum. The most simplest artwork to print would be single spot colors. Like a vector 1 or 2 color logo. So next time you are getting ready to place that big order of shirts, make sure you understand the pricing differences before you have your graphic designer come up with an amazing 12 color image for your design. :). Thanks for reading this post everyone. Please share and like if you find this helpful. We really hope this saves you some time and money. Happy Thursday!!
