It aims to create genuine, memorable interactions by meeting audiences in unique, unexpected, or authentic contexts.
Types of alternative media marketing
• Experiential and guerilla marketing: Using creative, often low-cost, and unconventional tactics in public spaces, such as parking meters, bathrooms, or mobile displays like "advertising bicycles".
• Digital and social platforms:
• Podcasts and streaming services: Placing ads or product reviews within content, which can be more integrated and less disruptive than traditional ads.
• Influencer marketing: Partnering with creators on platforms like Twitch, which can have very loyal audiences, for more authentic brand engagement.
• Niche or alternative social media: Engaging with communities on platforms like Mastodon, which are often built around specific interests and cater to privacy-conscious users. Brands may use sponsorships or user-generated content to connect.
