Laurel has some incredible people in it. 🙌

Spent the evening at the Laurel Board of Trade networking happy hour and met so many local business owners who are building something here. Good conversations, great energy, and a lot of "we should work together" moments.

This is why I love doing business in Laurel. It's a community, not just a zip code.

📸 Huge shoutout to Charles Sisler from Soft Reflections VS for catching this candid moment. Such a talented photographer!

The postcards are big and colorful that it’s hard to miss!

I got 1.4 million views on an Instagram reel and...

it was the worst thing for my business.

And yeah, for a second it felt AMAZING. The adrenaline rush. The notifications going crazy. "I finally did it! I went viral!"

171K likes. 64K shares. 3K saves. 475 comments.

But here's the problem: that video had NOTHING to do with my business.

Sure, it got engagement. People were talking. Sharing. Saving.

But those are vanity metrics.

The people who engaged? NOT my target audience. They'll never book me. They're not even local to me.

And now when it comes to running Facebook ads, I can't retarget or create a lookalike audience based on Instagram engagement. Why? Because this viral video attracted the WRONG people.

Here's the lesson:

Your posts are probably getting 50 views. Maybe 5 likes. Very low engagement.

But if you're a LOCAL business, what really matters is this:

Are the people interacting with your posts your IDEAL clients? Are they even LOCAL to you?

Because I'd rather have 10 ideal clients liking and commenting on my posts than 1.4 million random people who'll never book me.

Vanity metrics don't pay your bills. The RIGHT engagement does.

These USPS tubs are waiting to be filled. 📬

The next Laurel Direct Mail postcard has 9 spots left out of 12. Once a category is taken, it’s gone until the next mailing.

Message me your business type and I’ll let you know if yours is still open.

You don’t have to be based in Laurel to get a spot on Laurel Direct Mail, you just need to service the Laurel, MD area.

09/27/2026

What’s the ROI on direct mail advertising? It depends on your offer, a pizza place with a $10 off coupon gets fast results, a plumber won’t get calls until someone’s toilet leaks, but that’s when you want to be the name they already know.

09/27/2026

Laurel Direct Mail guarantees one business per category on the postcard, so when a homeowner opens it, you’re the only bathroom remodeler, plumber, or whatever your category is that they see.

09/27/2026

Laurel Direct Mail sends postcard ads to 2,500 homes in West Laurel, one of Laurel, MD’s highest-income neighborhoods with a median household income of $164,688.
