The pretty letters you see on Instagram? Those are draft 47. Or 147.

Behind every gorgeous sign, there are pages and pages of "not quite," and "okay, getting closer." That IS the work, and it’s the creative process for every lettering artist.🩷

So if your letters feel shaky right now, or you're comparing your beginning to somebody else's middle — please be gentle with yourself.

Practice is how the wobble becomes a flourish. It's how thinking turns into muscle memory. It's how "I can't" becomes "look what I made!"

One page at a time, friend. You're doing better than you think.

Day 6 — the final project in our series, and I saved one of my favorites for last!

Mini signs are the perfect confidence builder if you're just starting out with hand lettering on wood. They're small (usually 6x6 or smaller), they come together fast, so each one you make feels like a win.

Day 5 and we are making tote bags!

Don’t let the look fool you. Canvas tote bags are incredibly forgiving to letter on. The surface has just enough texture to grip your paint pen, and because the fabric has a little give, it actually hides small wobbles better than wood does.
