Thank you to Voyage KC for taking the time to showcase my small business, Sparrow Creative Studios, as well as the work I'm doing to bring STATSdraft to the world. As it turns out, as I was writing about the mentors I've had in my life, one of them was quickly and quietly losing a battle with cancer.

Martha Littleton was one of the most insanely talented people I've ever met. She was an entirely self-taught innovator who launched real estate communities across the Carolinas and into Virginia. If you've been in Raleigh at all, you've likely seen something she touched. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her seeing something in me and telling me I could do anything I wanted. I like to believe I told her plenty of times how much of an influence she had in my life. But truthfully, it was never enough. I'm heartbroken she is gone.

It's been a minute since I've shared any updates about Sparrow. So it was time to pop on and talk about some fun things I've been doing behind the scenes. First up: the Yarn Barn of Kansas!

We've been tackling a social media strategy that's boosted their online presence significantly. Not only do we get to play with squishy yarn, but we're helping share the endless knowledge they offer that inspires crafters from across the globe.

It's been such a busy year that I haven't kept up with my own social media the way that I should. On Christmas, I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful day and to say thank you for all you've done to be a part of my community. Merry Christmas!

We're two days into Women's History Month, and if you haven't read the report on the status of women in Kansas from United WE, you should take a moment to do so. We know women across the country make less than men. But for women in Kansas, those earnings are even less. That means less income. Less retirement (if you can afford it at all). Less money for education, less money for childcare, less money for our basic human necessities. And this was just one of the stats that stopped me dead in my tracks.

One of our favorite projects is working with PlainsCraft Covered Wagons to build their brand. Banner Ranch Julian saw the work we're doing and fell in love with what these wagons could offer their California glamping property. I was recently introduced to Megan Gladbach through the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce after she was hired by Lawrence Public Schools to serve as an Experiential Learning Specialist. In this role, she is helping kids find experiences that will help figure out potential career paths. Megan has pulled me into some fascinating spaces within the school district lately, so when she asked if I'd be willing to talk about my career on a new podcast she launched for kids within the district, I jumped at the chance. As a journalist, it's pretty weird to be on the other end of the questions, but I'm so excited to share what we discussed.
