10 years. 🐝

On May 1st, Social Buzzerfly officially hit its 10 year anniversary. Seriously??! I can hardly believe it!

This started as one person with a laptop, a love for social media, and a whole lot of determination has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many amazing local businesses, meet incredible people, and be trusted to help their businesses grow.

10 years later, I can still say that I LOVE WHAT I DO! I’m so proud of this past decade. I’m beyond grateful for every client, referral, share, comment, recommendation, and word-of-mouth mention over the years.

Supporting my local business has truly changed my life.

Thank you for being a part of it! Here’s to the next 10 years!

Apparently the em dash is now a criminal offense on social media because people think proper punctuation = AI.

I used em dashes for years because they help a point stand out better — not because a robot handed me a caption (put in this sentence for effect).

Now I’m out here editing myself into commas and constant "..." or "--" pauses just to seem “human", but less grammatically correct.

Have we really reached the point where proper grammar looks suspicious?

Just a little vent for today.

Apparently today’s Davis Chamber Business Alliance luncheon dress code included… slippers.

I didn’t realize until I stepped out of my car that I had left the house in them. At that point I had two choices:
1. Turn around.
2. Own it.

So I owned it.

I even asked for the “word of the day” to be slippers.

Honestly, it turned into the perfect reminder of something I believe strongly in… being real. Not overly polished. Not pretending to be something you’re not.

People connect with people. Not perfection.

Also, apparently networking is more comfortable in slippers.

Procrastinators… rejoice.

Instagram just opened up in-app scheduling to everyone.

Not just business accounts.

Not just creators.

Everyone.

You can now schedule posts and Reels right inside the app. No extra tools. No excuses.

Will this change the world? No.

Will it save you from panic-posting? Probably. 😏

So… are you batching content now? Or still living on the edge?

Instagram quietly changed how Stories work…

Now public Stories can be reshared by anyone, even if you weren’t tagged.

What this means:
🐝 More visibility for brands (hello, organic reach)
🐝 More user-generated content opportunities
🐝 BUT also less control if your account is public

Good news though... you can turn this off in your settings if you want tighter control.

Moral of the story (pun intended):

Post Stories assuming they might travel farther than you planned.

This is one of those small changes that can actually matter a lot… depending on how you use social media.
