Project Hail Marshall

We’re constantly drawing inspiration from the world around us and great films are always at the top of that list.

Inspired by Project Hail Mary, we set out to recreate the feeling of space using practical effects. By leveraging our new digital display, we’re able to build fully immersive environments right on set no need for post-production compositing. It allows us to dial in lighting, color, and mood before we even begin the edit.

Refined through challenge. Reimagined with intention.

Thank you for all the continued support, and questions about what we have been up to over the past few months.

We are excited to finally show you all our new studio space!

The studio comes with room for multiple sets, a kitchen for cooking, make-up room, edit suite, and everything else you've come to expect on a shoot with Simone!

As we rebuild, we’re bringing even more thoughtfulness, artistry, and care into every frame. This experience has only deepened our passion for what we do and the people we do it for.

While we are moving into this next chapter ourselves, we are still here to help you move into yours.

Long time no see!

We’re so grateful for everyone who reached out with support, and to the clients already getting back on the books.

If you’ve been wondering what’s next for us, we’re back doing what we love: creating content with our incredible clients.

Back to creating with very cool people and it feels really good.

Thank you to the DS Team for trusting us to capture your latest launch, even in the middle of a snowstorm.

And a massive thank you to the SIMONE Team, led by Art, for the hustle and heart. Rebuilding a full production with rental gear, cards, cables, and all the little things we used to take for granted is no small feat.

High five to this crew. Grateful and proud. 🙌

A note to all Clients, Friends and Virtual acquaintances. I wanted to let you know that our beloved studio suffered a devastating fire starting the night of December 13th and through the 14th. Countless firefighters from multiple stations worked together, braving the elements of snow, ice and cold with tireless compassion and bravery, doing what they do best, protecting people and property. All of the business owners and residents were safely evacuated and cared for by the Red Cross and City support channels. To all those involved I want to say thank you and extend my gratitude and support in this time of healing. For almost 40 years we have poured our souls into this business and created an amazing body of work in a truly special place making friends along the way. That history will always matter, but now is a time to rebuild and reimagine as we start the journey to create Simone 2.0. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and look ahead with resilience, determination, and hope.

When shooting for Crider Foods, we had a lot happening at once — video downstairs, photos upstairs, dishes running between sets, and multiple recipes being prepped at the same time. With a schedule that packed, there’s not always room to add more on the day of the shoot.

That’s why afterward we take a look at the images and ask, “How can we make these go even further?” One way is by animating them into fun GIFs like this. Using a mix of Photoshop’s newer AI features and our tried-and-true techniques, we can create even more content from the same piece of media.

Its Raining Nuggets!

If you’re local to Lebanon, you may have spotted some of our work on the trailers. This one quickly earned the name “Raining Nuggets” for obvious reasons.

Since nuggets don’t actually fall from the sky (sadly), we decided to make it happen ourselves.

So next time you see a Bell & Evans truck on the road, go ahead and imagine a magical golden nugget storm just like this. 🌧️🍗✨

Can you tell where AI was used? If not.. that’s exactly the goal!

When taking some photos for one of our clients Delphi they wanted a complete group photo of all their employees. We found a great spot with a bunch of beautiful natural light, but the only problem was their logo which was hidden behind some heads.

Knowing we wanted to fix this we leveraged our technical skills and photoshops new tools to create a seamless fix. To make the move possible, we captured an empty plate on location with a clean view of the logo, but the challenge was removing the old one. With the help of Photoshop’s latest AI features, we were able to erase the hidden logo and seamlessly place the new one in.

While it might look like magic, there’s still plenty of technique and attention to detail involved to make the final result believable. These tools aren’t a shortcut for poor setup, however they’re a powerful solution for those unavoidable fixes when you know how and when to use them effectively.

Its always fun shooting with our long time client Mrs.Ts Pierogies! This time however, we were able to take the shoot into the frozen aisle.

This brought out a bunch of its own difficulties but was well worth it to create a realistic and relatable commercial.

Mind your manners at the table this Thanksgiving. 😅 🦃💨

Sometimes when you’re experimenting with practical effects, you end up with shots that might not be what you were going for, but are super funny. These outtakes are a great way to practice new tools and create a lighthearted post along the way.

Simone will be out of the office Thursday and Friday, and back December 1st to finish the year strong. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy holiday! 🤎🍂
