New data from Socialinsider is in. One big headline? Facebook posting frequency is way down YoY. Here’s how we’re reading the shift by platform:

TikTok: Consistency still wins. Brands are maintaining a steady cadence because TikTok rewards regular participation, without the need to flood feeds. Think momentum over volume.

Instagram: Posting frequency is holding steady, reinforcing what we see every day: it’s about quality + variety, not just quantity. A healthy mix of posts, Stories, and Reels keeps both audiences and the algorithm engaged.

Facebook: The biggest change here YoY with a 48% drop in posting frequency. Brands are clearly moving away from “post everything” and toward more intentional, high-value content that actually earns attention in a crowded feed.

X (Twitter): The opposite trend. Posting volume is up 40% YoY, highlighting the platform’s real-time nature. Speed and frequency still matter here—if you’re not posting, you’re likely missing the conversation.

With Texas' upcoming ice storm potential ❄️, it's important for business owners to know how to communicate operating hours updates to their customers. In the event your business closes during normal business hours, be sure to take these steps:

1. Update the location's Google Business Profile 🗺️
Input a new entry under "Special Hours" to note the day(s) you're closed. This is the same area where you typically input holiday hours in GBP.

2. Post on your social profiles 📱
Clearly state when the business will be closing, an ETA for re-opening, and/or when updates will be provided. If there is an online option for people to access your business while the physical location is closed, be sure to direct people there.

3. Update voicemail recording or/and call answering service teams 📞
Update any standard call recording menus, voicemails, or call answering service scripts to note the date(s) of closure. Provide resources for customers to access while the physical location is closed, such as your website.
