Although COVID-19 has been extremely hard on most businesses, it has also allowed businesses to reconstruct their marketing campaign.

Knowing your audience is key to your brand success. If you’ve been marketing your brand for a while, you might be tempted to skip this step. You already know your customer, right? Maybe, but do you know them in their current state? ⁣⁣

Are there additional audience opportunities that you haven’t assessed that you could test now? ⁣⁣

It doesn’t matter who you are — now is an excellent time to take a step back and re-acquaint yourself with your ideal client.⁣⁣

Are you writing captions the length of an essay? ⁣

Or are your captions 10 words or less?⁣

Whether you’re writing short or long captions, it’s important to find out the optimal length in characters of your caption text to boost your engagement. ⁣

Let’s take a look at and !!⁣

While short captions work well for Ulta, (16-70 characters), long captions perform best for Sephora (181-360 characters). But here’s the kicker, if both accounts are looking for just “likes” then we suggest they stick to these caption lengths…⁣

If they’re looking for more comments, then for Utla, we suggest they create very long captions(361-2220). For Sephora, short captions generate the most comments!⁣

In the end, depending on which metric means more to you and your brand, getting a grasp on caption length can help with engagement significantly.⁣
