We visited the Leavenworth National Cemetery a little over a week ago for our Aunt Pat Fuqua's funeral. She was a wonderful woman and a talented artist, and she worked for the Department of Defense for many years before she retired. She is buried with her husband, Harry Fuqu, who fought in WWII. My Dad served our country and is also buried with his wife in the cemetery, and we thoughtfully laid flowers on their grave. Both my Grandpas served in WWII and many family members served our country. I'm taken back each year when I see the sea of stones and the countless soldiers who many died in battle over the last nearly 250 years we've succeeded as a GREAT country. Without the soldiers who died, there would be no freedom. Without those who have carried on their legacy, there would be no freedom. My husband and I are immensely grateful to all who gave their lives so we remain free and to all who serve today with the same passion in their hearts. Wishing everyone a meaningful, safe and blessed Memorial Day. ๐บ๐ธ
