🦆Duck egg:
Richer and higher in fat with a larger yolk, making it amazing for baking and extra fluffy cakes.

🪿Goose egg:
Huge and hearty with a very rich flavor — one goose egg equals about 2–3 chicken eggs and makes an impressive breakfast.

🥚 Washed vs. Unwashed Eggs — what’s the deal?

We get this question a LOT, so here’s the simple answer y’all 🙂

Eggs naturally have a protective coating called the bloom. When we don’t wash them, that bloom stays intact — which means they can safely sit on your counter for about 2–3 weeks & even longer if refrigerated. (Unless they are cracked!)

When we wash eggs with warm water, it removes dirt & the bloom. That means they MUST be refrigerated — but they’ll stay fresh in the fridge for about 4–6 weeks.

So why do we wash some and not others?
🌿 If an egg is clean, we often leave it unwashed so you can choose how to store it.
🌿 If it’s muddy or messy (because… chickens 😅), we wash it so it’s clean and ready for your fridge.

Either way, they’re fresh from our happy & healthy pasture raised & free range hens💛

Store smart, & enjoy every golden yolk 🍳✨

Y’all know, not all chickens are built the same!

Cornish Cross are meat birds, not egg layers — and they’ve got a very specific job they’re GREAT at.

✨ Why we raise Cornish Cross at Ivy Acres:

• 🌽 More feed efficient – less feed per pound of meat
• 🍗 Larger, meatier birds – especially that breast meat
• 💸 Lower overall feed cost compared to raising dual-purpose birds for meat

Y’all, my laying hens- I LOVE them 💛
But they’re built for eggs, not the freezer. Raising layers for meat means:
