They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… and I have to admit, I’m flattered.
One of my medical device designs has recently been showing up in several other manufacturers' product lines. Same form factor. Same layout. Same features and colors. Sound familiar?
It raises an interesting question:
🧐 Are knock-offs a good or bad form of flattery?
On one hand, it’s rewarding to know your design made such an impact. On the other, it’s a reminder that while it’s easy to duplicate a CAD file or mimic a 3D form, it’s much harder to replicate the strategy, insight, and user-centered thinking that went into the original.
Leading manufactures in medtech like Erchonia Corporation know great design isn’t just about shapes and surfaces—it’s about function, usability, and real-world problem solving. That’s not something you can easily reverse-engineer.
💡 If you're looking to develop a design that's worthy of being knocked off—one that leads, not follows—I’d love to collaborate. Let’s build the next industry benchmark together.
