I initially spotted this girl on the underside of a leaf; cold, soaked, alone, and tattered. I offered her my finger, and she clumsily climbed on to it and began to groom herself. She refused my attempts at giving her nummy flowers. After 10-15 minutes, I didn't believe she would make it on her own and was formulating a plan to bring her back to Lincoln when she bumbled off of my hand and on to my knee.
As I was re-offering her my finger, she spread her tattered little wings, as she had made multiple attempts to do before, and flew away.
Sometimes, all you need is a little kindness and warmth... and maybe some cuddles.
