Several things can bring people together – music, food, love, and empathy. The latter is one of the most essential qualities in humankind. So, when our creative director, Lidoska Guietti, visited her homeland of Italy this summer, she got a chance to showcase her empathy in the best way, through her creativity. While she was there, she participated in a fun, yet important fundraising opportunity that is near and dear to her heart.
“A Doll with a Big Heart” is a cancer awareness campaign that is currently taking place in Reggio Emilia. Cut-out doll shapes are available to anyone to decorate, paint or embellish, as they wish. Then, these unique dolls are displayed in an exhibition and sold by auction to raise funds for cancer research on October 16 & 17, at the Piazza Prampolini, the main town square. So far, over one thousand dolls have been created.
For Lidoska, volunteering is using what you have and doing what you can. "For the right cause, donating or volunteering is the right thing to do, every time there is an opportunity,” she says. “Volunteering is necessary for the wellness of the community and it’s something that my family and I have always done. When I was introduced to the project, it was a no-brainer, I embraced it in a heartbeat and worked on my doll with all my passion to infuse it with love, positivity, and hope.”
