Most contractors contact forms have a problem. They are TOO LONG!
Yes, most people that fill them out are bots, spam and not clients… so yes, you turn them into SPAM and stop caring when a new form lead comes in.

The problem is, in one of those spam emails, there is a real client looking for your business. The faster you answer to your leads, the more conversions you get.

Customers when they contact you are ready to buy, so do yourself a favor and reply to your leads, create a system and shorten your forms. People hate giving out personal information.

Google showed my website 2,010 times when people searched for “SEO Chelmsford.”

My website was usually around spot number 10.

But nobody clicked on it.

At first, I thought maybe my page title was bad. Then I searched Google myself.

That’s when I noticed something important.

Google was showing results for Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Chelmsford, England at the same time. It also showed an AI answer, questions people ask, business listings, and other websites before mine.

So even though Google said I was around position 10, that didn’t mean my website was easy to see.

That’s why ranking numbers don’t tell you everything. If you own a service business, don’t only ask:

“What number am I on Google?”

Also ask:
"What does the customer actually see, and am I showing up for the right searches?

That’s what matters.

Made this after looking at an electrician's website last week.
His homepage title headline said one word. "Home."

That's the line Google reads to figure out what the page is about, and it told Google nothing. No trade, no city.

His competitor's headline said "Electrician in Manchester NH." Guess who Google shows first.

If your homepage headline is just your business name, or the word "Home," that's an easy fix. Trade plus city and add your business name. Nothing more complicated than that.

Sharing this for any contractor who has a website but isn't sure why the calls aren't coming in. Might be exactly this.

Had someone review your business who was never an actual customer?

Here’s what actually works.

1. Report it through your Google Business Profile. Pick the reason that fits.
Google will check whether or not the transaction was real or not. They could care less how upset you are.

2. While you wait, reply to the review anyway. Be calm and factual. Your current and future customers will see this. It protects you no matter what.

❌ don’t report a real customer’s bad review just because it’s bad. Google will not remove it and please don’t offer money or refunds to remove it. That is an actual violation of its own.

As an agency we need access to these accounts but you keep all of the administrative access so that if you are no longer wanting to work with the agency, you can simply revoke access and that’s it.
