DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A FLYER.
After working countless lost-pet searches, one thing I wish every owner understood is this:
Get flyers out EARLY.
As a drone operator, one of the most valuable things you can give me is a recent, credible sighting. A single call telling us where your pet was seen, what time, and which direction it was traveling can take a massive search area and give me a much better place to concentrate the thermal drone.
And sometimes that sighting comes from someone who never saw your Facebook post.
Not everyone is on social media. The person driving to work every morning, the farmer down the road, the delivery driver, or the neighbor a few streets over may have no idea your pet is missing.
That’s why flyers still work.
Get them up quickly near busy intersections, neighborhood entrances, convenience stores, walking areas, and other places where people naturally slow down and have a chance to see them. Start close to where the pet went missing and expand outward as sightings develop.
Keep the flyer BIG, SIMPLE, and EASY TO READ:
LOST DOG / LOST CAT
Large, clear photo
Location missing from
Phone number
DO NOT CHASE — scared pets can run farther
SEEN? Call with the TIME, LOCATION & DIRECTION OF TRAVEL
I’ve seen searches change because one person saw a flyer, remembered seeing the animal, and made the call. That information can be exactly what we need to get into the right area and start putting the pieces together.
Social media reaches thousands. Flyers reach the people who are actually driving, walking, working, and living in the area where your pet may be hiding.
Don’t overlook one of the simplest tools available.
Get the flyers up. Get eyes looking. Get us a sighting.
Locate. Plan. Reunite.
