Local businesses are going to get caught off guard if they don't stop and pay attention to what just happened on Google.
Google is moving away from showing people a list of websites and toward giving them answers directly.
Think about how you use your phone.
When was the last time you clicked through ten different websites to find what you needed?
Most of us don't.
We ask a question.
We get an answer.
We make a decision.
That's where things get interesting.
Because if Google doesn't understand your business, it can't include you in that answer.
That's a problem not enough people are talking about.
Many businesses are still pouring their energy into social media while their website is outdated, their online information is inconsistent, and their reputation is scattered across the internet.
The businesses that get found in the future won't necessarily be the ones posting the most.
They'll be the businesses that Google understands the best.
Is yours one of them?
