Social Media Decoded #08: Organic Content

Everybody talks about it. Not everyone understands it.

Organic content is any post, video, story, or update you publish without paying to promote it.

No ad spend. No boost button. Just you, your message, and the algorithm deciding what to do with it.

So why does it matter?

Because organic content is where trust is built.

Paid ads can get you in front of people. Organic content is what makes them stay, follow, and eventually buy.

It is the difference between renting attention and earning it.

Here is what great organic content actually does:

It shows up consistently, so your audience knows you are real.
It provides value before it ever asks for anything.
It builds a community around your brand over time.
It tells the algorithm that real people care about what you are saying.

The brands and creators who win long-term are not always the ones with the biggest ad budgets.

They are the ones who showed up consistently, gave generously, and built something the algorithm could not ignore.

Organic is not free. It costs time, creativity, and consistency.

But the return? It compounds.

Remember Mouse Trap?

That board game where you spent 20 minutes carefully building an elaborate chain reaction, only for the whole thing to fail because one tiny piece wasn't set up right.

Your social media strategy works exactly the same way.

So many businesses are out here posting every day, jumping on every trend, adding more platforms, and still catching nothing.

Not because they're not working hard enough.
Because one piece of the trap is missing.

Here's what the trap actually needs:
🎯 A clear goal: Are you building awareness, generating leads, or driving sales? You can't build a trap if you don't know what you're trying to catch.

🧲 The right audience: A trap set in the wrong room catches nothing. Posting to everyone means reaching no one.

✍️ Content that connects: The cheese is what lures the mouse. If your content isn't giving your audience something they actually want, they scroll right past.

πŸ” Consistency: Every single piece had to be in place before Mouse Trap could work. Posting once in a while and going dark? The chain reaction never completes.
The game hasn't changed.

You still need every piece in place, strategy first, content second, consistency always.

Which piece of your trap is missing right now? Drop it in the comments. I'd love to help you figure it out. πŸ‘‡

SOCIAL MEDIA DECODED #7: CALL TO ACTION

This is where most people either guide their audience…

Or leave them hanging.

A call to action is simply telling people what to do next
That’s it.

Not something complicated.
Not something pushy.
And definitely not something you should skip.

Its direction.
Because without direction…
People do nothing.

And doing nothing usually looks like:
πŸ‘‰ Reading your post
πŸ‘‰ Liking it
πŸ‘‰ Scrolling away

Here’s the truth…

Attention without action doesn’t grow your business.

A good call to action doesn’t feel forced…

It feels helpful.

It makes the next step clear.

It gives people something to do with what they just read.

And it turns your content into something that actually moves.
And no… You don’t need to overthink it.

Start simple:
βœ”οΈ Tell them exactly what to do
βœ”οΈ Keep it clear and easy
βœ”οΈ Make it feel natural in the post

Because the goal isn’t just engagement…

πŸ‘‰ It’s movement.

Data tells you what. People tell you why.

Everywhere I scroll I see posts that are just... data. A chart. A stat. A percentage. Maybe "Interesting πŸ‘€" and that's it.

But here's what's missing β€” YOU.

Two examples I see constantly:

🏑 Realtors posting housing market stats with zero context. Median price, days on market, inventory β€” okay, but what does that mean for someone buying right now? You've closed hundreds of deals. Tell me what YOU see.

🏦 Mortgage pros posting "This week's rate: 6.87%" and nothing else. Is that good? Bad? What should a first-time buyer actually do with that number? You talk to borrowers every day β€” share that perspective.

Anyone can pull a number from a report. What I can't Google is YOUR take on it, shaped by your years in the field.

Information is a stat. Insight is what you think that stat means for the person reading it.

Taking a stance is exactly what builds trust. The people I come back to aren't the ones who showed me data β€” they're the ones who helped me understand it.

Next time you post a number, ask yourself: what do I actually think about this? Then say that.

πŸ‘‡ Drop a comment:
- What industry are you in?
- What "data dump" post do you see most?
- What's YOUR take on it?

Let's have the conversation those posts never start. πŸ™Œ

Most people don't have a content problem.
They have a courage problem. πŸ’™

I just published a new article in my LinkedIn newsletter, The Social Media Scoop, and it's one I've been wanting to write for a while.

It started with this line from We Bought a Zoo:
🎬 "All it takes is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will come of it."
β€” Matt Damon

Because honestly? That one sentence describes exactly what I see holding people back online every single day.

Not a strategy. Not budget. Not the algorithm.
Just those 20 seconds of courage that never happened.
The post that never got published. The message that never got sent. The idea that's still sitting in a drafts folder somewhere waiting for the "perfect moment."
Sound familiar? πŸ‘€

Head to my LinkedIn to read the full article, link in the comments! πŸ‘‡
And tell me, what's YOUR 20-second moment? What have you been almost doing but haven't quite found the courage for yet? Drop it below. I genuinely want to know. πŸ™Œ

Real talk - are you posting and then disappearing for 2 weeks? πŸ‘€
That's called "post and ghost," and it's quietly killing your business online
😬 You don't need viral content. You don't need a ring light.
You just need to SHOW UP consistently.
3 real posts a week builds more trust than 1 perfect post a month - I promise.

Save this, share it with a friend who needs to hear it! πŸ’›

πŸ“– SOCIAL MEDIA DECODED - Term #3: ENGAGEMENT RATE

Engagement Rate is the percentage of your audience that actively interacts with your content, through likes, comments, shares, saves, and clicks.

Here's how to calculate it:
(Total Engagements Γ· Total Followers) Γ— 100 = Your Engagement Rate

What's a good number?
πŸ“Š 1–3% = Average
πŸ“Š 3–5% = Good
πŸ“Š 5%+ = Outstanding
πŸ“Š Under 1% = Time to rethink your strategy

A brand with 1,000 highly engaged followers will outperform one with 100,000 silent ones every single time. Quality ALWAYS beats quantity.

πŸ’¬ What's your current engagement rate? Don't be shy, drop it below and let's talk strategy!

Scroll your feed for 60 seconds right now. How do you feel?

Inspired? Anxious? Envious? Motivated?

Your social media feed isn't random - it's a direct result of every like, follow, and minute you've spent lingering. It has quietly become a mirror of your mental landscape.

This week, I challenge you to audit your feed with intention:
β†’ Unfollow 3 accounts that leave you feeling worse
β†’ Follow 3 accounts that challenge or uplift you

Your digital environment shapes your thinking more than you realize. Choose it wisely. 🦊

Ever wonder why some posts go viral, and yours gets 3 likes? πŸ€”

πŸ“– SOCIAL MEDIA DECODED - Term #2: ALGORITHM

An Algorithm is a set of rules and calculations a platform uses to decide what content to show each user, based on their behavior, engagement habits, and what's most relevant to them.

In other words: the algorithm is the invisible gatekeeper deciding whether YOUR content gets seen - or buried.

The good news? You can work WITH it.
βœ… Post consistently
βœ… Create content that sparks real engagement (comments beat likes)
βœ… Use video: platforms push it harder
βœ… Reply to comments fast after posting

The algorithm isn't your enemy. It's a system - and systems can be learned.

πŸ’¬ Has the algorithm ever surprised you - good or bad? Tell us below!

The biggest shift in social media is already happening - and most brands are completely unprepared.

In 2026, platforms are rewarding content that keeps people on the feed - not content that drives them away from it.

That means your "click the link below" strategy? It's quietly being penalized.
Welcome to the era of Clickless Content - where your value is delivered in the post. No redirects. No barriers. Immediate, scroll-stopping impact.

Here's what that looks like in practice:
βœ… Carousels that teach, not tease
βœ… Captions that answer the question fully
βœ… Videos that complete the thought - right there in the feed
βœ… Infographics that give insight, not a preview

The brands winning right now aren't asking people to leave the platform. They're building entire experiences within it.

Are you ready to adapt?

πŸ“© DM us "CLICKLESS" and let's talk strategy.

Stop scrolling for a second. πŸ›‘

You use social media every single day - but do you actually know what it IS?

πŸ“– SOCIAL MEDIA DECODED - Term #1

Social Media is any digital platform that allows users to create, share, and interact with content while connecting with others in real time. That means Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, X - all of it.

Here's the thing most businesses miss: social media isn't just a place to post. It's a two-way conversation. The most successful brands don't just broadcast - they CONNECT.

Whether you're a business owner, entrepreneur, or professional, understanding the foundation of social media is step one to using it as a real growth tool.

This is just the beginning. Follow along as we decode one term at a time β€” and transform the way you see social media. πŸ”“
