Conversation, collaboration and connection took center stage this week in Madison, Wisconsin as Blue Water hosted a retreat for museum directors from some of our client institutions. We offered media training specifically designed for museum directors, invited attendees to pose their communications questions to the Blue Water team during an open forum and offered tips for teambuilding and keeping their personal cups full. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable and refreshing few days, and a special thank you to the Chazen Museum of Art for welcoming us! We look forward to continuing our meaningful work together.

Today we are celebrating legendary artist Ralph Steadman’s 90th birthday!

As we celebrate nine decades of his creativity, excitement is also building for “Ralph Steadman: And Another Thing”, the upcoming exhibition in Fort Collins at the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art. The exhibition will spotlight Steadman’s extraordinary career, collaborations, and unmistakable artistic voice.

Maria A. Guzmán Capron’s figurative textiles hold nuances of identity, memory and cultural complexity in “Penumbra,” on view at Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College through September 27. A recent article in Selvedge Magazine offers an up-close look at the plush works constructed from original hand-dyed fabric. A 15-foot soft sculpture anchors the gallery, and exaggerated hands and intertwined forms emphasize touch as a form of communication. The works are inspired by the artist’s personal experiences as a native of Milan who was born to Peruvian and Colombian parents and immigrated to the United States as a teenager.
