"Just getting a different angle on things." 🙃

Today's find — a designer's trick worth stealing: when you want to check a layout, turn it upside down. Sounds silly, works every time. Right-side up, your brain reads the words and glides right past the problems. Flip it, and you stop reading and start seeing — crooked spacing, edges that don't line up, an off-center logo, one margin fatter than the rest. Balance and alignment jump out once the words stop getting in the way.

Give it a try on your next flyer or business card before it heads to print. Rotate the page, squint a little, and let the design speak for itself. (Works for cats and layouts alike.) 🐾

Case #3: "There are so many paper choices — how do I know which one is right for my project?"

Darwin's Notes: You've caught me doing a little inventory up here in the supply cabinet, so this is the perfect time to crack it. Paper comes down to two things: weight (how thick and sturdy it is) and finish (how the surface looks and feels). Thin, lighter stock is great for flyers, letterhead, and anything you'll mail in volume — it folds easily and keeps postage down. Heavier cardstock is what gives business cards, postcards, and menus that solid, premium "this-is-the-real-deal" feel in someone's hand. Then finish sets the mood: matte is soft and easy to read, gloss makes colors and photos pop, and there's plenty in between.

Here's the secret every detective knows — the right paper depends on how the piece will be used. A postcard that lives on a fridge wants different stock than a handout at a busy event. So instead of guessing, just tell us what the piece is for and how it'll be handled, and we'll match you to the paper that fits. 👀 Nothing gets past this desk — that's the whole point of quality control.

Which brings me to today's find: the last set of eyes before you print matters most. Once a job goes to press, every copy comes out exactly as the file was sent — typos, a wrong phone number, last year's date and all. That's why we send a proof: your final chance to catch the small stuff before it's multiplied by five hundred.

So give it a real look — read it out loud, double-check the phone number and email, confirm the dates and spelling. Once you approve it, you'll know every copy is right. Better to catch one typo on a proof than to find it on a whole box of finished flyers. 🐾

Designers and printers see it everywhere as filler — "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" But where does that famous placeholder text actually come from?

And the answer is… B! It's scrambled Latin from Cicero's "On the Ends of Good and Evil," written back in 45 BC. Printers have used it as dummy text since the 1500s because it fills a layout with realistic-looking words — without anyone getting distracted actually reading it. Stay tuned for more trivia! 🖨️
