🌧️🌱 Longmeadow got hit with enough rain lately to start qualifying neighborhoods for wetlands status.

And yep… zoning enforcement has apparently been making the rounds.

If your grass is over 6 inches high, you may have found a little note waiting for you. The good news: for now, it appears most are warnings.

Now before everybody starts side-eyeing the neighbor with binoculars and too much free time…

Remember: a few years ago at Town Meeting, residents voted to hire additional zoning enforcement officers specifically so enforcement would be more consistent and fair town-wide.

Back in the old days, sometimes things only got enforced if:

Somebody complained
Somebody REALLY complained
Somebody named their riding mower “Justice”

The goal now is supposed to be equal enforcement instead of selective enforcement.

And yes, the bylaw applies to your whole property, not just the tree belt.

Quick breakdown:
• Grass across the property: max 6 inches
• Tree belt (between sidewalk and street): must also be maintained and kept clear of litter, brush, weeds, and debris

So if your lawn currently looks like the opening scene of Jurassic Park… you may want to fuel up the mower before Roostah starts hearing the distant sound of clipboards approaching.

🪦 TALES FROM THE CEMETERY RETURNS — MAY 16th 💀

Roostah B. S**z has officially confirmed: Longmeadow’s most delightfully haunted history event is back.

The Longmeadow Historical Society is bringing back “Tales from the Cemetery,” where costumed interpreters guide you through the historic cemetery telling the stories of Longmeadow residents from centuries past.

Honestly, it’s one of the coolest events this town does every year. History, storytelling, old gravestones, and just enough spooky colonial energy to keep things interesting.

📍 Longmeadow Cemetery, 61 Williams St
📅 May 16, 2026 · 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
☔ Rain date: May 17th
🎟 One-hour guided tours

Roostah notes: this may be the only Longmeadow event where some residents have literally been saving their seats since the 1700s.

Longmeadow voted. The fiber article failed.

Roostah is not throwing himself off the coop.

Some folks are relieved. Some are disappointed. Some are still explaining trenching costs at breakfast.

But Longmeadow is still Longmeadow. The bills still come. The Wi-Fi still buffers. And S**z still has a job to do.

We’ll keep covering the town, the characters, the meetings, the wins, the weirdness, and the occasional barnyard nonsense.

Pro Meadow. Always. 🐔

🚨 S**Z AFTER DARK 🚨

Wellllll damn Longmeadow… wild when hometown boys climb in the canoe with outside money to sink their own town’s future.

While neighbors out here talkin’ better service, local control, and modern infrastructure… these cats chose fear, flyers, and fairy tales. That’s a strange route to row, baby.

You don’t gotta agree on every vote — that’s Longmeadow.

But teamin’ up with dark-money noise to kneecap your own community project? Whew. That’s a different breed.

S.S. MassPriorities — Paddlin’ for Comcast. 🛶 Check the cartoon.

May 12, the town decides.

Until then… some folks row forward.
Some folks row circles. 🛶

🐔 ROOSTAH SAYS… GIVE IT UP FOR FLETCHER’S

Three years in Longmeadow, still bringing that slow-smoked, fall-apart, can’t-stop-eating kind of magic.

Brisket that don’t play.
Ribs that got attitude.
Pulled pork so good it should come with a warning label.

This ain’t just BBQ, it’s a full-on flavor operation happening right on Longmeadow Street.

Respect to the crew, the grind, the smoke, and the folks packing the place night after night.

💥 Happy Anniversary, Fletcher’s. Keep the fire going.

Longmeadow eats good because of spots like this.
