Rooted in family, fueled by community, and guided by a deep love for animals, Pine & Palmetto Printing Co. is more than a printing business. It is a mission-driven venture built on connection, compassion, and a belief that small businesses and nonprofits deserve to be seen, regardless of size.
Founded by mother-daughter duo Julie Harbuz and Kenzie Salak, their business was born during a season of transition. With Salak moving to South Carolina and welcoming a new baby, Harbuz found herself in between jobs and decided to make the move as well to help her daughter. What started as being in the same place at the same time quickly became the opportunity they had been waiting for. With an idea that had been in their hearts for years, they decided to take the leap and build something together.
That leap became Pine & Palmetto Printing Co., a non–brick-and-mortar printing business offering both personalized products and business marketing materials. From stationery and notepads to business cards, banners, and direct mail, their focus is on helping the community show up professionally while staying rooted in their values. At the center of their work is the Bee Connected Community Spotlight , a shared mailer program designed to give visibility to small businesses and nonprofits alike.
Through multiple different mailer sizes, one hyper-local and one larger regional, non-competing businesses can purchase ad space while helping sponsor local nonprofits or sheltered animals. The result is a full-circle model that creates reach for businesses, visibility for nonprofits, and meaningful impact for the community. “We want to give back more than we take,” Harbuz said, a value that drives every decision they make.
The animal connection in their mailers is deeply personal. Shortly after moving to South Carolina, Harbuz had to sadly say goodbye to her rescued pup from the Longmont Humane Society. Seeing full shelters in South Carolina without the same resources available back home was heartbreaking and strengthened their resolve to root this initiative in Colorado, with the long-term hope of expanding it to other communities nationwide where support is desperately needed.
Even their name tells a story. Pine represents Colorado, palmetto represents the East Coast, and together they symbolize a coast-to-coast connection. Though they are currently operating remotely with nationwide shipping, Colorado remains home, and Longmont remains close to their hearts.
Since joining the Chamber, Harbuz and Salak have felt nothing but support. From their very first event at the State of the City last year, where Harbuz joked she felt like a celebrity because of the warm welcome, to the connections that helped move their business forward faster than they imagined, the Chamber has played a meaningful role in their journey. "Our biggest goal is to help small businesses, nonprofits, and animals," Salak said.
The mother-daughter duo continues to build with intention. With a goal of moving from quarterly to monthly mailers in the future, expanding nonprofit partnerships, and staying flexible for small businesses with limited budgets, they are committed to doing business passionately.
Described best by three words — community, family, and fun — Pine & Palmetto Printing Co. is proof that when heart leads, impact follows. With a small but mighty team that includes mom, daughter, dogs, and a baby, they are building something special, one connection at a time.
