MGA was founded by Nann Miller, APR, Fellow, PRSA, one of the first women to own and operate a public relations firm in Los Angeles. Nann's agency, Nann Miller Enterprises, Inc., was founded in 1975 in downtown Los Angeles and served clients in the hotel, development, real estate and special events industries. Nann's legacy is legendary in the public relations field, having provided PR s

ervices to some of the most spectacular events in the U.S., including the Statue of Liberty Celebration, Bay Bridge Anniversary and the Welcome Event to the 1984 Summer U.S. Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Jay Geer joined her agency as an intern while in college (Nann was his instructor) and was promoted to account executive, account supervisor and VP of the agency. He purchased the agency from Nann in 1995. His expertise as one of the healthcare industry's opinion leaders in marketing and communications was recognized by PRWeek, which named him one of the top 50 healthcare leaders in 2000. In 1996, Al Arizmendez joined the firm, specializing in ethnic public relations and marketing and was named as a partner in 2001. Retired 55-year-old firefighter George Rojas is looking forward to celebrating another Father’s Day with his family after surviving a stroke last November.

George, an avid cyclist, suffered a stroke and collapsed at home. His family quickly called 911, and he was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center within minutes.

Ahead of the June 2 primary, AltaMed Health Services physicians Dr. Ilan Shapiro MD MBA FAAP FACHE and Dr. Regina Inchizu joined additional doctors and community members to talk to Santa Ana residents about the connection between civic participation and improving their health. Doctors shared non-partisian information about the upcoming election and let the community know that AltaMed in Santa Ana will host a pop-up vote site.

More than 150 Los Angeles high school and middle school students shared their Civic Action Project (CAP) that addressed pressing social issues in their community at the California Endowment. The Civic Action Expo was hosted by Teach Democracy, a non-partisan non-profit that develops civic learning materials for K-12 students.

The Expo is the culminating event for its CAP participants who presented on topics such as immigrant rights amid ICE raids, preventing gang violence, urban development, affordable housing and improving youth mental health.

According to the American Red Cross, children under five years old drown most often in pools owned by family and friends. With summer approaching, Dr. Kevin Goldman, emergency medicine at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, spoke with ABC7 sharing pool safety tips. Parents are urged to keep watch of their children when they are in the pool at all times as it can only take seconds before a drowning can occur. Dr. Goldman also recommends thinking twice about certain swimwear color choices, since some are harder to spot in the water than others.

CalOptima has partnered with AltaMed Health Services and the City of Santa Ana to launch a Street Medicine Program following a press conference held at Santa Ana City Hall.

Santa Ana is the fourth city in Orange County to offer the CalOptima Health Street Medicine Program, which is a program providing health care to people experiencing homelessness through a mobile health unit and providing services to create a path to permanent housing.

Kelly Bruno-Nelson, executive director, CalOptima Health speaks with NBC LA on the challenges the unhoused face when trying to access health care services.

Across the United States there have been many mass shootings in public places. Mt. SAC and Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Center hosted a mass casualty incident simulation to give health careers students and emergency department staff an opportunity to prepare on how to respond to a crisis. The training event focuses on coordination, triage, communication, and patient care in a high-pressure environment.

David Gonzalez from ABC7 joined the event, talking to students about this valuable experience.

March is National Sleep Awareness Month, and according to a report from the CDC, an estimated 50–70 million Americans have chronic, or ongoing, sleep disorders.

Project Sleep, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about sleep health, was founded by Julie Flygare, who lives with narcolepsy. Flygare speaks with Jo Kwon Spectrum News 1 SoCal about her journey of living with a sleep disorder and how it inspired her to create Project Sleep.

UCI Health Health Sleep Disorder Center Medical Director Dr. KyongBin Im also joined the conversation, explaining that several health issues can arise from insufficient sleep, including diabetes, depression, and an increased risk of heart attack.

Nerve grafts are helping women combat nerve damage following breast cancer surgery. Dr. Maher Gobran, a breast surgeon at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, spoke with Denise Dador at ABC7 and said that loss of feeling in the chest is common because the breast tissue is removed completely.

CalOptima enrollment is declining in Orange County. New state rules for Medi-Cal eligibility are making it harder for low-income families to become eligible. Yunkyung Kim, COO of CalOptima, told NBC LA another reason for the decline is the "anxiety" within the community due to stricter immigration policies.
