There is AI then there is Unchain3d in the Membrane
While AI holds great promise, many current AI consulting services and solutions fall short in delivering real value for businesses. A major problem is that much of the touted AI capability is still theoretical, with limited practical application. Many AI "solutions" require significant user training, complex prompting, and multiple disconnected tools that add cost and complexity rather than simplifying operations.
Furthermore, the AI models themselves often lack the robustness, security, and personalization that businesses require. The open-domain language models like GPT are not private, secure, or tailored to a company's unique needs and brand. And the data these models are trained on can be biased or low-quality, similar to the "plastic in the ocean" problem.
Ultimately, businesses end up spending more time and money trying to make these AI tools work, rather than realizing the promised efficiency gains. Many AI consulting engagements result in prototypes or minimally viable products, with key features still unavailable by the time the client has to pay.
In summary, the hype around AI consulting often does not match the reality of what these services can reliably deliver for businesses today. Careful evaluation and a focus on practical, user-friendly solutions is crucial when considering AI for commercial applications.
