On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, a youth workshop for the Reconnecting Pasadena 710 Master Plan project was hosted in collaboration with the community based non-profit Day One. Held at the organization’s headquarters, we had the chance to meet with Day One’s youth participants to conduct a model-building activity to visualize what students would like to see at the future Stub site.

The workshop began with a short presentation to introduce the project and to give examples of the potential features that could end up in the final design of the Stub. Participants used Legos to construct their vision for an ideal space that would serve the entire Pasadena community, encompassing aspects like affordable housing, green space, water features, businesses, road features, and municipal buildings. Towards the end, youth attendees presented their ideas to the rest of the group.

As a typically underrepresented demographic, this workshop provided the opportunity to better understand what Pasadena’s younger citizens would like to see within their community.

Participants engaged directly with project team members, learned about the history of the Stub, discussed restorative justice themes, and provided feedback on land use, mobility, and sustainability ideas.

The workshop successfully gathered valuable community input with over 50 surveys collected and more than 160 additional comments submitted on project display boards throughout the room.

Exciting developments in West Hollywood! As a part of the rail integration study that the city has conducted, potential ways to make first/last mile improvements were identified to ensure safe and efficient access to future Metro K Line stations. Upgraded sidewalks, new bike lanes, and improved crosswalks are all being considered, making it easier for everyone to choose sustainable transportation options. These concepts are scheduled to be presented to City Council for review in early February - hopefully putting us one step closer to light rail in West Hollywood! 🚇

The K Line may be decades away from reaching West Hollywood, but local officials are already plotting out access the upwards of three stops that could be located within city limits.
