The Arc’teryx fireworks display in Tibet has prompted an environmental outcry - leading to the brand issuing an apology on both Weibo and Instagram.

Cai, the artist who was born in China but is currently based in New York, also took to Chinese social media to apologize: there were “several areas that failed to be taken into account properly.”

Just in 📝: Sze, who is the son of Chinese immigrants, will become the 25th U.S. Poet Laureate. Sze was the first poet laureate of Santa Fe, New Mexico and has had a decades-long career as a poet.

The job of the poet laureate is to promote the reading of poetry, and different laureates choose different fields and avenues. In the announcement, Sze says he intends to focus on promoting translated poetry.

Swiss watchmaker Swatch has pulled an ad featuring a model pulling the corners of his eyes, after the image prompted uproar among Chinese social media users.

Critics said the pose resembled the racist “slanted eye” historically used to mock Asians.

“We sincerely apologize for any distress or misunderstanding this may have caused,” the company shared via an Instagram post on Sunday. “We treat this matter with the utmost importance and have immediately removed all related materials worldwide.”
