Composer Roger Suen attended the 2026 News & Documentary Emmy Awards. Roger was nominated for Outstanding Music Composition: Documentary for his work on ‘Bring Them Home.

Narrated and Executive Produced by Lily Gladstone, ‘Bring Them Home’ follows the Blackfoot Confederacy’s long-term effort to return wild buffalo to the Blackfeet Reservation, restoring cultural identity, healing, and economic opportunity, while navigating resistance from ranchers.

Honoree Director Nimisha Mukerji attends The Hollywood Reporter’s 2026 Women in Canadian Entertainment Gala and Award Show.

Nimisha was named to The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Canada Power List for her work directing prestige television.

Her résumé spans prestige streaming drama to network procedurals to Sesame Street. She has helmed episodes of Hulu’s Emmy-nominated ‘Under the Bridge,’ starring Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough, Ryan Murphy’s ‘9-1-1,’ CBS’ ‘Tracker,’ starring Justin Hartley, Apple TV’s ‘Life by Ella’ and David E. Kelley’s ‘Big Sky.’ She earned two Canadian Screen Award nominations in 2025 and 2026 for directing ‘Allegiance’, the CBC/NBCUniversal police drama where she also served as executive producer and producing director. Her documentary work includes the Hulu original film ‘Jacinta,’ and the feature ‘65_RedRoses,’ selected by Oprah Winfrey for her OWN Documentary Club.

In the last five years, only 60-80 women have directed U.S. prestige TV. Of those, just 8-12 are Canadian, and only 2-4 are women of color. As a Canadian, South Asian woman - Nimisha is part of that exceptionally rare group - one of the very few Canadian women of color working at the highest levels of prestige television.

Director Nimisha Mukerji was named to The Hollywood Reporter‘s ‘Women in Entertainment Canada Power List’ spotlighting the executives and creatives shaping the industry north of the border - and, increasingly, everywhere else.

Mukerji has become one of Canada’s busiest TV directors, with a résumé that runs from prestige streaming drama to network procedurals to Sesame Street. Congratulations to ‘Bring Them Home’ Composer Roger Suen on his 2026 News & Documentary Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Music Composition: Documentary. 

This marks Roger’s first Emmy nomination.

In addition to his work on ‘Bring Them Home’ Roger is also a longtime collaborator with Director Justin Chon and has scored several of Chon’s films that have premiered at Sundance and Cannes, including ‘Blue Bayou,’ ‘Ms. Purple,’ and ‘Jamojaya.’

Roger was honored at the New & Documentary Emmys in New York on May 28, 2026.

Variety exclusively announced that ‘THIS TIME,’ the romantic drama feature starring ‘THE PITT’ actor Ken Kirby, Leilani Nicol, and Michael Strassner, was acquired by Freestyle Digital Media. Written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Sebastien Tobler, ‘THIS TIME’ premiered as the centerpiece selection of the 2023 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival before earning Tobler the Emerging Director Award at the 2023 Asian American International Film Festival. 

Tobler - a Filipino‑Swiss writer‑director whose multicultural upbringing across seven countries informs his cinematic voice - was also named a 2024 Stowe Launch Fellow, where his next feature, ‘BODIES OF WATER’ is being developed for presentation to studios and investors. He is additionally in development on ‘KAMIKAZE BLUE,’ a 1990s Bangkok coming‑of‑age drama.

Flashback Friday to Music Supervisor Mikaila Simmons attending the premiere of ‘Forbidden Fruits’ at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival. 

Starring Lili Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, Lola Tung, and Alexandra Shipp, Forbidden Fruits follows a clique of retail workers who secretly operate as a toxic witch coven led by Apple (Reinhart), alongside Cherry (Pedretti) and Fig (Shipp). But when skeptical new hire Pumpkin (Tung) disrupts their carefully constructed sisterhood, the girls are forced to confront buried secrets, inner darkness, and the bloody consequences of the cult they’ve created.
