This morning I stopped by the little square pot beside the gate and noticed how bravely this tiny plant is reaching toward the light. The pot is old, the paint is peeling, and the soil looks a little rough, but that new green leaf still manages to make the whole corner feel alive. I loosened the top layer of soil, checked that it was not too dry, and turned the pot slightly so the stem would not keep leaning in one direction. It only took a few minutes, yet it felt like a quiet reset before starting the rest of my day. I keep thinking about how small beginnings rarely look impressive. Sometimes they are just one thin stem, two leaves, and a little patience. I may move it to a bigger pot soon, but for now I am enjoying this simple stage, when every new leaf feels like a tiny celebration.
