Feeding kids isn't always easy, and even though I'm a dietitian, I get how overwhelming it can be for parents to focus on what their kids won't eat and worry about their nutrition and growth. We're all in the same boat, especially with so much advice out there that seems more like a dream than reality for some kids.

I'm here to help with straightforward tips, like simple food swaps and quick lunchbox ideas. Let's aim for realistic, healthy eating habits that can grow with our kids.

I've got a cool tip for making family meals healthier without breaking the bank. I'm all about adding nutrition wherever I can, especially for the kids.

I've mentioned this before, and it turned out to be pretty popular, so I'm sharing more ways you can use it. Besides just white sauce, you can sneak it into all sorts of pasta sauces.

I also mix blended white beans or butter beans into mashed potatoes and a simple bread dough. There's even a pizza dough recipe with beans hidden on my page somewhere!

If you give it a shot, let me know how it turns out. Keep this trick in mind for later.

If you're looking for more ideas, feel free to check out my page and book. As a pediatric dietitian, I'm here to help parents feel good about feeding their kids with smart, easy habits for healthy eating.

There's been a lot of chatter about ultra-processed foods and their effects on kids' health, which has left many parents worried. But Lucy has a point—we shouldn't just write off all processed foods.

Things like baked beans, hummus, and fortified cereals can actually pack in good stuff like iron, fiber, and protein. Of course, some ultra-processed items, especially processed meats or those loaded with sugar, salt, or unhealthy fats, are best in moderation.

Lucy reminds us that we can definitely find a balanced path. What we choose to eat often boils down to time, money, cooking skills, and even cultural backgrounds.

The main takeaway here? No single food decides your kid's health.

It's about the overall diet and lifestyle. Check out the link in our bio for expert tips on making toddler snacks healthier, getting kids to finish their meals, and understanding their food habits.

We're here to make nutrition easy for your family, turning it into everyday routines that help raise happy, adventurous eaters. Get in on checklists, busting myths, clever food swaps, and quick lunchbox ideas to help you feel more confident about nurturing your child's growth and fun meals.

Ever find yourself stuck when your kids refuse to eat dinner? This week, I asked my Instagram followers if they stress when their kids skip dinner, and the responses poured in.

About 40% worry about their kids going to bed hungry, and another 40% are concerned about a rough night. As a parent, I totally get it.

This topic comes up a lot in my consultations, so let’s talk about why dinner can be tough for kids and how to make it a bit easier. Seeing mealtime through your child’s eyes can really change things.

Drawing from my nearly 15 years of experience with families and young kids, I want to offer some reassurance and insights.

Let’s dive into why dinnertime can be challenging and how we can make it a positive part of the day. We’ll discuss practical ways to tackle picky eating, create balanced meals, and encourage healthy habits that help raise happy, well-nourished kids.

Remember, feeding your kids is about more than just nutrition—it's about setting them up with good habits for life.

For more ideas on fun and balanced meals, managing lunchboxes, and clearing up food myths, stick around. If you have questions or thoughts, I’d love to hear them—let’s chat and support one another.

Figuring out how to handle kids' eating during a heatwave can be tricky! The UK is basking in some lovely sunshine this week, which naturally changes how our kids feel about food.

Here's how I’m managing:

1. It's perfectly normal for kids to eat less or skip meals when it's hot.

My daughter has skipped dinner the last three nights because she’s too tired and warm by bedtime. It's common for kids to avoid food when they're feeling overheated or worn out.

2.

Keep meals simple and relaxed. This is the perfect time for easy meals like fruit, raw veggies, cold cuts, frittata, or some bread with hummus or cream cheese.

Light, cool, and straightforward is the way to go.

3. Keep them hydrated.

Staying hydrated is crucial in this weather. Opt for fluid-rich foods like smoothie bowls, popsicles, cold fruits and veggies, or cereal with cold milk.

A cool watermelon slushie might be just what they need to beat the heat.

If you're unsure or want some advice, I’m here to chat. Let's make these nutrition tips a natural part of your routine so your kids stay cheerful and healthy even when it's blazing outside.

With Easter weekend coming up, a lot of people have been asking me how to handle all the Easter treats with kids. There's no single right way to parent; every family does what's best for them.

This year, I’ve decided to let A have some chocolate. She's getting old enough to notice it and she'll be around friends who are enjoying it too, so this feels right for us.

Events like this, with so much tempting food, can lead to lots of debates, especially when others are feeding your kids.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day feeding, but I really believe in thinking about how our choices affect our kids’ future relationship with food. My book talks a lot about this in the ‘Feeding Futures’ section, focusing on how our feeding habits shape them in the long run.

As a pediatric dietitian, my goal is to empower parents to feel confident about nourishing their children by turning solid nutrition info into easy, practical habits.

From dealing with picky eaters to putting together balanced meals, I'm here to give you straightforward advice. If you’re interested in tips, debunking food myths, or quick ideas for lunchboxes, I’m all about making sure kids enjoy good food while getting the nutrition they need.

Feel free to jump in with your thoughts or questions.

Let’s keep chatting about making food fun and healthy for our little ones.

2024's been a wild ride, especially with all those perfect moments we see online. I’ve had my own crazy year too.

It sometimes felt like I couldn’t measure up, but stepping back, I’ve realized how far I've come. Balancing career and family is tough, and I’ve had those weekends and nights lost to work, which sometimes brings on that familiar guilt from not spending enough time with my loved ones.

Behind those smiles in photos were lots of doubts and tears, and those challenging days juggling parenting with work. But, I’ve been so lucky to have my husband, daughter, family, and friends there with their unwavering support.

What drives me has remained the same: helping parents raise happy, confident eaters with practical, science-based advice.

Massive thanks to all the families, partners, colleagues, and especially you for being by my side this year, even as social media took a step back.

Sending wishes for the year ahead.

Spent some serious time at the clinic before my holiday, chatting with parents of little ones about handling mealtime and food-related behaviors. It really hit home how stepping into our kids' shoes can be a game changer.

We often forget that their food habits are tied to how their brains work, their experiences, and their surroundings. Kids just don't think or act like adults, especially around food, which can make things tricky.

But when parents see things from their child’s point of view, the stress eases up, and they feel more ready to tackle these moments. It’s especially true with feeding, as mealtime can be a real source of stress.

Have these thoughts helped you make sense of your kid’s eating habits? I'd love to hear your stories.

Remember, every child is unique, and each day is a fresh chance to support their growth. If you're curious about more tips or have questions, I'm here for you.

Let’s turn those mealtime challenges into confidence and raise kids who enjoy their meals. Luce x

Figuring out how to feed our little ones can really be a head-scratcher. Talking with other parents lately, I've realized we're all wondering why getting kids to eat seems so complicated.

Social media’s influence, the way we were raised, and how kids’ appetites change all play a part. Let’s face it, toddlers and young kids are unpredictable when it comes to eating because they're growing and changing so much.

This makes meal times feel like a wild ride, right?

So, if you’re stressed out about your kid’s eating habits, you're definitely not alone. Tons of us parents feel this way, and it’s totally normal.

As someone who’s focused on kids’ nutrition, I’m here to help you get comfortable with feeding your kids.

Using facts and simple routines, we can make meal times less stressful and more enjoyable. Whether it’s introducing new foods in a fun way or clearing up nutrition myths, I’m all about giving you tools for healthy eating habits.

We’re all in this together, and I’d love to hear your stories or any topics you’re curious about.

Let’s keep this space open for supporting and empowering each other as we raise kids who enjoy good food.
