Squawk! Thank you to Friends of the LA River for inviting us to perform at RiverFest yesterday! Bezzi the Yeti and Flip the Phoenix taught kids about CA Scrub Jays (Eek!), Allen’s Hummingbirds (Bzzz!), Ravens (Gronk!), and Red-Tailed Hawks (Kiii!), which are just a few of the amazing feathered friends we can spot in Los Angeles.

And a big, furry shoutout to our talented team who brought Bewilder to life on stage:

Friends of the LA River is hosting their 5th annual RiverFest this Sunday, August 9th at our favorite LA State Historic Park from 2:30pm - 7pm, and Bezzi the Yeti and Flip the Phoenix will be there!

We’re hopping on stage at 4pm so don’t miss out on a day of FREE outdoor fun. Pop by our booth to enter our NEMO Equipment camp chair giveaway too.

This community festival exists to celebrate the culture, history, and people that shape the LA River. We’re excited to be a part of it.

Next time you see a bug — don’t squish it. Watch it.

What is it doing? Is it eating, pollinating, or decomposing? Bugs aren’t just creepy crawlies. They help grow our food, clean up the forest, feed the birds, and some of them are literally used in hospitals to treat wounds.

Honk if you love adventure!

Bezzi the Yeti and Flip the Phoenix are hopping on the water at Echo Park Lake! Come paddle in swan boats, spot silly geese along with a few surprise visitors along the way. Come find out who’s really running the lake (hint: it’s not us).

💜 What’s Trail Tales? 🛶

It’s a nature meetup where imaginative stories are blended with hands-on outdoor exploration. It’s designed for families with kids as young as two years old to help them experience nature with curiosity, confidence, and belonging. It happens the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month!

🦆 What to expect 🌱

We handle the outdoor planning and programming so all you have to do is show up and bring your sense of adventure! We’ll have complimentary coffee from along with snacks and juice boxes for the kiddos.

Kids will go on a lakeside scavenger hunt looking for local plants and birds.

We’ll wrap up with a gratitude circle and a group pic to remember our adventure together.

Huzzah! Our Bewilder Beasts helped Bezzi the Yeti and Sid the Sasquatch solve the mystery of the Lost Bloom at Los Angeles State Historic Park! 🔎🌺

We climbed trees, collected sticks, and picked up pebbles while learning about how seeds become trees and flowers become fruit 🍎

Thanks to all of the fams who joined us on a sunny adventure and for supplying us with delicious coffee.

Our next Trail Tales is happening Sunday, May 3 at 9:30am. Stay tuned for more details this week!

How do flowers become fruit? 🍊

That’s what Bezzi the Yeti and Sid the Sasquatch will be learning about at our next Trail Tales on Sunday, April 19th at 9:30AM at Los Angeles State Historic Park!

💜 What’s Trail Tales? 🥾

It’s a 90-minute adventure where imaginative stories are blended with hands-on outdoor exploration. It’s designed for families with kiddos ages 2-7 years old to help them experience nature with curiosity, confidence, and belonging.

🍏What to expect 🍋

We’ll have complimentary snacks and juice boxes for the kiddos. We’ll kick things off with movement in our Welcome Circle and join Bezzi the Yeti on a nature hike!

Kids learn about local plants and flowers along the adventure with plenty of shady spots to pause and take a break.

We’ll wrap up with an arts & crafts activity where families create a bloomin’ memento to take home.

Bugs are busy buzzin’ and so are we!

Bring your family to Trail Tales: Bezzi & the Bug Brigade this Sunday, April 5th from 9:30am - 11am as hang with Chase the Jackalope to learn about our crawly squirmy friends in Elysian Park.

💜 What’s Trail Tales? 🥾

It’s a 90-minute adventure where imaginative stories are blended with hands-on outdoor exploration. It’s designed for families with kiddos ages 2-7 years old to help them experience nature with curiosity, confidence, and belonging.

🐥 What to expect 🦜

You’ll power up with complimentary hot and ice coffee thanks to along with fruit and juice boxes for the kiddos. We’ll kick things off with movement in our Welcome Circle, and join Bezzi the Yeti on a nature hike!

Kids learn about local plants and bugs along the adventure with plenty of shady spots to pause and take a break.

We’ll wrap up with an arts & crafts activity where families create a buggy memento to take home.
