LA is a truly multicultural city with many strong and proud traditions. Mexico-Tenochtitlan: A Sequence of Time & Culture mural in Highland Park on Figueroa Street is a beautiful representation of the Aztec, Mayan, Native American, and African cultures coming together in vivid, colorful harmony.

In the heart of East LA sits the Self Help Graphics & Art building - known for its beautiful Eduardo Apes embedded ceramic facade - the largest & most prominent Hispanic artwork in the area. The building has also housed many influential artists, from Patssi Valdez to Willie Heron, Gronk, Frank Romero, and Diane Gamboa.

Considered the birthplace of the Chicano Movement, Estrada Courts remains a pivotal piece of Latino history in Los Angeles. Constructed during WWII, Estrada Courts was originally created as military and defense housing. ⁠After the war, Estrada Courts became more than just low-income/working-class housing - it welcomed all people, all races and eventually become a central hub for the Chicano movement of the 1970s. ⁠

Today, Estrada Courts remains a low-income community where you can find over 70 murals of artwork that depict the Latino culture, wall after wall, each telling its own unique story.
