Lustmord, the pioneer of modern ambient electronic music, and Dave Lombardo, one of heavy music’s most influential percussionists, have joined forces as Lustmord Lombardo.

The pair release their debut album, The Pulse of Atoms, on Oct. 2 via Ipecac Recordings, offering a taste of their new collaboration with today’s release of “Paleomagnetic Resonance” (https://youtu.be/E0lBb2i-t3Y).

“One thing about an album like this is that you can't really point it out as being part of any specific genre or hopefully any specific period,” Lustmord explains. “Is it from last year? Is it from 10 years ago, is it from 20 years ago, is it from 5 years in the future? It's trying to create something that has its own sound, not tapping into whatever musical language or history you're familiar with. It goes way, way further back. This is the sound of planets dying or of stars being born. It's about a bigger picture. It’s the sound of the birth of the universe and the death of the universe; it’s not rock and roll.”

The two musicians met backstage at a Fantômas show, introduced by mutual friend Buzz Osborne, around the time that Lustmord and Melvins released their collaborative album. Nearly two decades later, Lombardo and Lustmord convened as Lustmord Lombardo, crafting an album that is as cold and distant as it is frantic and engaging. The Pulse of Atoms showcases an unheard side of Lombardo and brings Lustmord back to his industrial roots.

Rather than composing songs in a traditional sense, Lustmord built evolving walls and vortices of sound, leaving room for Lombardo to add percussion and various synthesizer layers. Once the editing and arrangement was complete, Lustmord mixed and mastered the record, which was a balancing act between the two players’ large, loud musical presences.

“I'm very proud of this collaboration because it's so different from anything else that I've done,” Lombardo adds. “And to create this body of work with Lustmord - this guy is legendary! He rattles the plaster off of venues.”

Album pre-orders, including a pair of limited-edition vinyl variants (Clear and Smoke), CD, and digital pre-saves, are available now: https://lustmordlombardo.lnk.to/pulse.

Dead Poet Society release their third album, Monarch, on Oct. 2 via Spinefarm Records. The announcement arrives with the towering new single, “Cold” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LcKKmL3KC8), and an accompanying video directed by the band’s own Jack Underkofler with Blackwolf Imaging.

“People today are constantly performing for one another, competing for a place in social hierarchy,” drummer Will Goodroad shares. “We slowly reshape ourselves, cutting away parts of who we are to gain acceptance and validation. Over time, we lose touch with our passions, forget why we do what we do, and stop recognizing who we really are – or what we truly believe, if anything at all. ‘Cold’ is about recognizing that reality and choosing to indulge in it anyway.”

“Cold” follows the release of “Roach” and “Sinner Systems,” two tracks that offered an early glimpse of Monarch’s balance of weight, melody, and emotional intensity. The new music has drawn swift praise, with Revolver calling it “tense and knotted with danceable dread,” Kerrang! describing the songs as “seething,” and Consequence hailing the tracks as a “glorious success.”

Produced by Mutemath frontman Paul Meany (Twenty One Pilots, Pierce The Veil), mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning Adam Hawkins (Turnstile, Yungblud), and recorded at Valley View Studios and The Park in Los Angeles, Monarch finds Dead Poet Society digging deeper into the instincts that have always defined the band.

"We wanted to carve out our own piece of territory," says vocalist and guitarist Underkofler of the band’s approach to writing Monarch. "I just wanted to swing for the fences with this one. All the things I felt made us, I wanted to see how much deeper I could go with them and try to boil down the essence of the feeling that makes Dead Poet Society who we are.”

The result builds on the foundation established by 2021's -!- and 2024's FISSION, delivering the band's most expansive and emotionally resonant collection yet. It's an album that embraces contrast, weight and melody, vulnerability and defiance, and exploits the tension between them.

Monarch is available for pre-order now (https://deadpoetsociety.lnk.to/Monarch) on multiple limited-edition vinyl variants, including a version featuring an expanded booklet, as well as CD, and digitally.

Arriving alongside today’s album announcement is The House (https://band.fans/thehouse), an interactive world inspired by the Monarch artwork, where a young girl sits ringed by phones. Some fans have already uncovered the first clue: a phone number curiously printed on a piece of merch in the band’s webstore. Fans are invited to stop by for a visit and see what they find.

Buzz Osborne didn't need another band. JD Pinkus didn't need another band. Coady Willis didn't need another band. Together with Clinton Jacob, they started one anyway. Meet Gatta Morta.

The quartet makes its debut today with Burn Witch Burn, a four-song EP, available now via Amphetamine Reptile Records. A visualizer for “Black Hall” (https://youtu.be/XB0gdKLLADQ) accompanies the release, with the digital single available via Ipecac Recordings (https://gattamorta.lnk.to/blackhall).

“It’s always a good time for the world to embrace a new heavy/weird band,” Osborne says. “I had the idea for Gatta Morta while touring last fall. I realized I needed to start a band with these three. Seemed like a no brainer. Solidly weird rock music that needs to happen.”

Bu****le Surfers bassist Pinkus agrees: “It’s been way too long since I got to write a heavy album from scratch with such high caliber players with such complimentary styles… and we’re just cat scratching the surface of what we got goin’ on!”

Rounding out Gatta Morta is Clinton Jacob, the creative force behind Chicago’s weirdo, pop-noise rock duo Mr. Phylzzz. “I just had this feeling that one day we would work together. I became friends with Buzz over the past few years doing shows together and having him play guitar on a Mr. Phylzzz song. When I was asked to be a part of Gatta Morta, I was speechless, but I was 100% ready for it.”

Burn Witch Burn lurches between thick, riff-driven heaviness and warped, psychedelic passages, with Osborne, Pinkus, Willis, and Jacob creating music that’s simultaneously reminiscent of their previous work and entirely new.

The debut single from Gatta Morta, featuring Buzz Osborne (Melvins)...

Monolord, who return to the U.S. in late August, have released a live video for the song “Iodine” (https://youtu.be/ETIrrMVF5uw) from their recently released album, Neverending.

The video captures one of the band’s first performances supporting the Sylvia Massy-produced album, intercut with behind-the-scenes footage from their hometown show in Gothenburg.

“Iodine” was inspired by 70s rock epics like Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird,” The Eagles’ “Hotel California,” and Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter.” “Even though it’s maybe not musically similar, I think the vibe is similar,” Thomas Jäger says. “And the opening riff is my tribute to Yob, because I’ve always really liked Mike [Scheidt]’s guitar playing. He does all these weird chords where his fingers are all over the fretboard at the same time. It’s for sure my favorite song on the album.”

Neverending has earned widespread acclaim, with Bandcamp naming it their “Album of the Day” upon release, Consequence declaring it “magical,” Revolver dubbing it “glorious” and New Noise saying the collection is “Monolord at the height of their powers.”

To create Neverending, Monolord traveled to Ashland, Oregon to record with legendary producer Massy (Tool, System of a Down, and Johnny Cash). The collaboration began when Massy asked vocalist/guitarist Thomas Jäger to send everything the band had ever written. “She asked me to send her everything we had—not just songs written for the album, but every stray riff and idea,” he says. “I even sent her stuff I’d written ten years ago. She listened to all of it and sent us a list of what she wanted to work on.” The band rehearsed 12 songs, recorded 11, and ultimately selected eight for Neverending. The result is an album that expands the band’s sound without sacrificing the weight and creativity that define Monolord.

Swans will release Newly Sentient Being, an audio and video collection that captures the seminal band's final "Big Sound" performance, recorded on Nov. 28, 2025, in Berlin, on Oct. 2 via Young God Records.

A glorious goodbye to this stellar version of Swans: Michael Gira, Kristof Hahn, Dana Schechter, Larry Mullins, Phil Puleo, Christopher Pravdica, and Norman Westberg, the album will be available as a 4LP+DVD set with poster, a 2CD+DVD with fold out booklet, a limited edition box set exclusive to the Young God Records webstore, and digitally. The collection is available for pre-order now: https://younggodrecords.com/products/newly-sentient-being.

Newly Sentient Being features superb recordings of Swans’ final concert of an era that ran from 2010-2025 and is the apotheosis of 15 years of cosmic sonic expressionism, alternately heavenly and debased, visceral and transcendent. Recorded in Berlin, it features two and a half hours of music, including a wealth of new material never before recorded, and a DVD of the performance directed by Marco Porsia and Peter Harton.

Michael Gira: “In 2010 I made the decision to reconvene my band, Swans, which I had, years earlier, killed out of frustration, disappointment and exhaustion. Now, I saw a light, a way forward for the music, and I decided to pursue it. Neither I, nor my collaborators in sound had any idea how things would eventually unfold, but it felt necessary and right, so we followed the music where it led. Turns out there was and is an audience for our music, which is often less than accessible in the popular sense of the term, but proved to be nevertheless compelling to a growing cadre of folks seeking the kind of unique experience we have offered.

I believe we reached some pretty tremendous highs along the way, where the music became a raging, sentient autonomous beast that played us (and the audience/listener), rather than the reverse. That was the goal all along, to lose ourselves in the swirl. It took a lot out of us, physically and psychically to reach the highest plateaus, but once there, there was nothing on earth like it, and I’m glad we did it. Now this phase is finished. There’s nowhere else to take it, but we seem to have ended on a particularly high note with our final tour of this (now passing) Swans era, and I believe these current recordings convey the sensations and experience of the unique world we forged. For the next phase, I’m moving Swans into something with a decidedly more humble, and intimate musical palette, but here now I offer my praise to the righteous group of humans, the musicians that made our final foray into the sonic ether a reality: Norman Westberg, Dana Schechter, Phil Puleo, Larry Mullins, Kristof Hahn, Christopher Pravdica, and I was in there flailing somewhere too.”

Kim Dracula has signed to Rise Records and shares "Molecular Conversion" (http://kimdracula.lnk.to/MolecularConversion), a new single that volleys between hushed, melodic moments and unrelenting intensity, underscored by Kim Dracula’s theatrical flair and singular vocal versatility. The song arrives ahead of a European trek that kicks off on July 31 and includes performances at Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault, Festival 666, and Motocultor.

Kim Dracula: “Finally, you will get to see the next chapter. New song. New label. New story.”

Directed by Max Moore, the “Molecular Conversion” video finds Kim Dracula, their band, and backing vocalists dressed entirely in white, performing on a brilliantly lit stage set surrounded by a verdant landscape. Not only that, but this video captures the unfolding of an entirely new story in the Kim Dracula cinematic universe.

Kim Dracula has built a global following with music that blends metal, industrial, jazz, trap, and Latin influences while maintaining a singular artistic vision. Their 2023 debut album, A Gradual Decline in Morale, cemented that vision, introducing an artist who effortlessly blends soaring melodies, death growls, rap cadences and spoken-word passages across a remarkable six-octave vocal range, all while demonstrating their ability to craft a cohesive concept album that tells a single, unified story, seamlessly weaving each song into the larger narrative.

Kim Dracula returns to the U.S. on Oct. 24 for Haunted, a special performance with Criss Angel at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The evening promises to feature an unprecedented 90-minute revolutionary concert spectacle of illusions, music, and terror.

Cor de Lux, who release their J. Robbins-produced, Ipecac Recordings’ debut album, Year Of The Horse, on Sept. 18, have shared a second preview of the album with today’s release of “The Deli” alongside a stop-motion video for the track (https://youtu.be/q8PgHB9mGLo).

“’To fall in mud doesn’t mean you’re stuck, safe on the line, you’ll never grow taller’ is an encouragement to think for yourself and not download what other people tell you to say and believe. People are going to come from all sorts of early indoctrination but once you analyze things through the lens of morality without feeling pressured to feel affiliated, then change can start occurring,” bass player John Bliven says, shedding light on Dawn Moraga and Tim Lusk’s lyrics for the track.

Lusk and Moraga wrote this song about the climate of our current political distaste that is in almost everyone’s mouth. This led to the line “eat all the politicians like sandwiches no kind of sauce can make them taste good.” With Moraga adding, “The whole political system in a nutshell feels like a modern day WWF televised event on ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’”

Built around the intertwined guitars and alternating vocals of Moraga and Tim Lusk, "The Deli" blends noisy indie rock with melodic hooks as the pair trade vocal lines throughout the song.

Directed and animated by Stephen Coad, the stop-motion video expands on the track’s satirical themes with surreal, handcrafted imagery inspired by the lyrics. The band announced the album last month, sharing “The Cringe” with a clever clip featuring a cooking show gone wrong.

Year Of The Horse captures Cor de Lux’s competing impulses: abrasion and melody. Atmosphere and momentum, chaos and control. Across nine songs, the Kill Devil Hills quartet balances post-hardcore urgency, shoegaze bliss, and guitar-driven catharsis. Recorded with Robbins, the album preserves the raw chemistry that defines the band while pushing their songwriting into sharper, more immediate territory.

Our Common Collapse have officially joined the 3DOT Recordings roster, marking the occasion with the release of their crushing new single, "Invertebrate," and its accompanying video (https://youtu.be/rxmteXpXnCk).

“Lyrically, ‘Invertebrate’ is more direct than much of our previous work,” guitarist and producer Elliot Merriman shares. “Rather than leaning too far into surrealism and ambiguity, it explores the spineless people who exploit those around them, always looking to take more than they’re willing to give, and the lasting impact they can have on a person’s sense of self and autonomy. While rooted in personal experiences, the themes are meant to resonate on a broader level.”

Discussing the band’s current creative direction, Merriman continues: “We’ve spent a long time writing and refining this new material and we can’t wait for everyone to hear a more evolved, fully realized version of the band. Every decision from the songwriting to the production was made with the intention of pushing our sound further while staying true to the music we enjoy listening to and creating. This is only the beginning of what we’ve been working on.”

Originally formed as "a high school project for a bunch of friends" in 2017, Our Common Collapse have steadily refined their progressive deathcore sound, drawing inspiration from everything from 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Lord of the Rings to Meshuggah and Deafheaven. Following the release of their 2019 EP No Longer Human or Known, the band continued to gain fans and momentum with singles including "The Lonesome Tongues," "Languish," "The Romantics," and "Weeping."
