Shavon Walker, also known as Providence a Spoken Word Artist and hipster at heart uplifts communities by creating a soundtrack that focuses on uplifing the world through poetry while mixing contemporary jazz and poetry together ~Jazzoetry ~. While her purpose for starting this journey is to help re-build a nation built off consciousness and self awareness. Knowing that words are more powerful than we think. Shavon believes that being more consciousnes of the words we speak and listen to brings more self awareness. She sets to change the world one poem at a time. Shavon started this journey as a writer at the age 15. She started writing as a way to express herself and to express the stories of others. In 2010 this hipster at heart published her first collection of poems in the book A Soul Spoken a book of inspiring poems from thoughts and reflections. After the release she was rated on Amazon top 25 list for African American Poetry for two weeks. Enjoying the journey to spread poetry across nations she released her second collection of poetry in 2014 A Woman Like Me ~ A Woman's Journey Through Poetic Expressions. After two books this poet is ready to move from behind the books and take her poetry worldwide with her debut single ~ In My Feelings ~ 10-10-14. With her most requested poem entitled "Where I'm from" which is her take on overcoming obstacles while living in a society that's all take and no give. Through life experiences she had learned that most people don't or won't express themselves because the fear of others reaction. She writes poetry to encourage people of all ethnicity and cultures. Now Shavon is moving from writer to spoken word artist. Independently with no recording lable behind her she sets to successfully release her full Album Moments Sometimes 2015.
