Melrose Arts District The official page of the Melrose Arts District (Fairfax to La Brea). The Melrose Arts District is known world-wide for its incredible street art scene.

The Melrose Arts District, managed by the Melrose Avenue Business Improvement Association, stretches along Melrose Avenue from Fairfax to Highland. As one of the most pedestrian-friendly areas of the city, Melrose Avenue has long held a reputation for being one of Los Angeles’ most unique, alternative and independent shopping, dining, arts and entertainment destinations. Whether it’s on store walls, electrical utility boxes, back alleyways, or in store windows and galleries, Melrose Avenue’s art inspires, excites and stimulates the senses. The Melrose Business Improvement Association is working to revitalize and enhance the commercial vitality of the area by providing security ambassador and parking services; landscape, sanitation, and beautification services; marketing and promotions; new business attraction; and policy advocacy on behalf of its stakeholders.

The Marathon continues on Melrose. 🏁🍔

Nipsey Hussle and his brother, Blacc Sam, once talked about opening a restaurant together. In 2025, Blacc and the Marathon team made it happen with Marathon Burger’s first location in the Melrose Arts District.

It’s a place for smash burgers, wings, and shakes—and a continuation of Nipsey’s legacy of building something for his community.

The Never Open Store might have the most honest business name in Los Angeles.

Tucked just off Melrose at 707 N. Poinsettia Place, the tiny shop was created by artist Stephanie Mata and has been confusing passersby for years. The concept is pretty literal: there are no regular hours.

And if you actually catch the door open? Inside is a packed collection of antiques, oddities, collectibles and Mata’s own assemblage art. The unpredictability is part of the point—it operates almost as much like a personal art studio as a traditional store.

Before Frankie's On Melrose was serving Italian food on , it was a fish market.

In 1987, owner Frank Competelli transformed his Melrose fish market into the New York-style Italian restaurant that still stands today.

Raised on Mulberry Street in New York’s Lower East Side, Frank brought his family recipes — including dishes inspired by his grandmother — with him to LA.

Nearly 40 years later, Frankie’s is still serving a little piece of old-school New York on Melrose. 🇮🇹🍝I
