I realized that everything in our living room is vintage or secondhand:
*1970s brass tube coffee table gifted by Charlie’s family friends 12 years ago. The glass broke during our move, and only then did I look it up and fully understand what a special piece it is
* for sofa that I got from the Sony prop house auction. I bid without seeing it in person but luckily the color is perfect. I wonder what films it was in! Still need to clip the modular pieces together
*Vintage rug pillows we got in Istanbul 10 years ago, scratchy but good colors
*1970s Brazilian leather armchairs - Charlie’s best Craigslist find to date, second only to baby . We were told they spent the last 50 years in a professor’s home office in Newport Beach
*Antique iron rope side table was a Facebook marketplace salvage find in need of a glass top (which I then also sourced from Facebook marketplace atop a very ugly base)
*Giant 1920s rug - another Charlie Craigslist find, way better in person than in the listing photo where I thought it looked too 80s grandma/pearly and we almost didn’t write
*1920s carved wood piano - another Charlie Craigslist find from an old house in Beachwood Canyon, still in need of tuning! I taught myself the Severance theme song while watching season 2 and it makes me so happy when friends play it (and even make up a Dakota theme song to the squeaky pitch of his crying )
*Vintage ceramic vase with face I picked out from a vendor at this spring, I love her
Do you have a favorite find? Or one that got away…? I will always love the thrill of the hunt and imagining the life stories of vintage objects.
Thank you for the lush, moody photo that makes me feel like this place has really come a long way ✨ Looking forward to hanging canvases on that back wall and continuing to add color, texture and interest here and there, much like my painting process 🩵
