At just 8 years old, Armenian climbers Monte Muradyan and Syune Kosakyan reached Mount Ararat’s summit, becoming among the youngest known climbers to do so.

After months of training, the two prepared for the climb by exploring mountain routes across Armenia and gaining altitude experience. As part of their preparation, they spent a night on Mount Aragats to adapt to high-altitude conditions.

Six Jewish Israeli suspects were arrested after allegedly attacking the entrance of St. James Monastery in Jerusalem’s Armenian Quarter.

The group was accused of spitting at the monastery and throwing stones at a nearby Armenian resident who filmed the incident.

Police detained six suspects, while the Armenian Patriarchate filed a formal complaint. The investigation remains ongoing.

Janes Nazaryan has become a two-time U17 world champion. The Armenian wrestler won gold in the 71 kg Greco-Roman final in Baku, beating Russia’s Aslan Dzuev 4-3 after coming back from a 3-1 deficit.

Nazaryan dominated the tournament, winning all four earlier matches by technical superiority with a 34-0 total score. Earlier this year, he also claimed the U17 European title with a perfect 37-0 record.

Armenia opened the U17 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championships in Baku with Janes Nazaryan advancing to the 71 kg quarterfinals after a 9-0 win over his Turkish opponent.

In the 51 kg division, Gevorg Harutyunyan was controversially denied victory against his Azerbaijani rival after judges awarded the match to the home wrestler.

French-Armenian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, Creative Director of Dior Parfums and founder of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, has been awarded the Knight of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest state distinction.

Kurkdjian dedicated the honor to his grandparents, who survived the Armenian Genocide and found refuge in France.

“Today, my thoughts turn with deep emotion to my grandparents, who survived the Armenian Genocide and became refugees in France,” he wrote.

Iconic heavy metal band System of a Down brought intense energy to their concert in Paris as part of their European tour.

The concert featured 28 songs, including many of the band’s best-known hits. As a surprise for fans, the band also performed parts of the traditional Armenian songs “Jan Ghapama” and “Aman Telo,” prompting multiple dance circles to break out across the crowd.
