I’m here at in DTLA for the Public Regional Hearing on the Human Cost of Mass Deportations and How Local Governments Can Fight Back. It’s absolutely surreal to be surrounded by so much political power while the lives of countless immigrant families continue to be violently torn apart.

Magean Ortiz Executive Director of called out that the Mayors across Los Angeles County have the power of the purse and policy to make real change right now.

Arturo Flores City Councilmember of Huntington Park is calling for the termination of Police Chief McDonald for his complicity in allowing these violent ice raids.

Rex Richardson Mayor of Long Beach is calling for justice for the families.

This regional hearing is called and led by who also joined in launching an investigation into DHS for their crimes against humanity.

These testimonies are necessary and important to document what is the horrific reality that is forever woven into history of this country, yet I am weary of the formality of process that is wrought with bureaucracy. Many important comments have been made but by the Mayors across LA County, but none have uttered the words ABOLISH ICE. The people are ready for swift action, justice, and for families to be safely reunited.
