QUESTION:
😴 Are Elevator Pitches a Cure for Insomnia?
Are Elevator pitches a cure for bad sleep?
Picture this: you have risen at the crack of dawn before work starts to go to a networking meeting to try and generate leads, referrals or possible promotional partners.
You’re sipping on your life-giving coffee, and then it starts -
The dreaded elevator pitches.
‘Hi Im john, from Johns Plumbing we have over 20 years experience helping homeowners with their plumbing needs and we pride ourselves on cleanliness and good service’
.and then another and another
Now your eyes start to droop, and you look at your watch..then suddenly it’s your turn.
Only to hear yourself sounding like John the plumber hoping that that maybe someone
will jump up and grab you and say -
‘Let me give you some business right now!’
But no. That doesn't happen, and for a very good reason.
You didn’t create any curiosity, and when people hear your story or pitch they don't see them self in the scenario you’re painting.
Plus, you didn’t have a valuable ask, so again they do nothing.
To solve that you must have three things.
1. A Unique Expert Proposition
2. 4 or 5 Compelling marketing sentences, and
3. Product names that creates an urgent connection
In small teams or one person operations we must embrace standing out with compelling value, and communication when we don’t have big marketing budgets.
