The Rhodes family. Dad looking square into the camera. Mom and Toby doing the traditional pose and Burma with a smile that borders on laughter. She is tickled about something for sure.

The picture of Burma on a pony is such a classic from this era. Men would lead a pony around the neighborhood and take these pictures for a fee. Dollars to donuts a majority of kids from Burma's generation have similar pictures. I love them. It is such a throw back.

Look what I got!! Is Burma not absolutely precious???? More to come. Stay tuned.

So I finally got to spend time with Mary and Toby together at last. It was quite a treat. Their relationship has seemingly been as effortless as I thought it would be. They are both warm and friendly and open. Just lovely women.

Tonight is going to be a very special night. I have been invited to have dinner with Mary, Toby and Mary's extended adopted family that includes a sister, Liz, as well as Liz's children. Families are built in so many different ways that are outside the norm. It is going to be so special to get to be a part of the celebration of this particular family that has come together in such random ways. But nothing can diminish the bonds of family no matter how they ar connected whether by blood or happenstance. I am so looking forward to it. ❤️

Happy Happy 2026!!! This is a monumental year in the Looking for Burma Rhodes saga. Why? Because this is the year that Mary (Baby #2) and her husband, Reggie, are coming to Los Angeles from Ireland to finally meet Burma's sister, Toby Rhodes!!!!! Aunt and Niece. Blood relatives. Same room. Face to Face. And they are all such delightful people I know they are just going to be so happy to be related and to be able to start to form a relationship forged by blood but cemented by respect, love of family, and appreciation for the fact that they have found each other. I can't wait to hear how it all plays out. So many questions. So many stories and maybe even a tear or two. I am so very excited for them.

Wishing a very very Happy Holiday to all of those who are stopping by to check out my page. If you have a minute please say "hi" and if you have a story feel free to share if you are so inclined. I am on a journey and I am very well aware that it is one that may never have the answers I am seeking. But I am excited at the prospect and love that you are interested in coming along too. And, who knows? Maybe, just maybe, one day it will be Baby #1 checking it out. One can always hope and that Santa is a pretty magical guy. He loves to make wishes come true. See you in 2026!!!!! 🎄🎉 🕕 ♥️

Happy Holidays, Baby #1!!!! Are you thinking about Burma? Do you even know her name? Do you have kids and or grandkids coming for the holidays? Do you talk about Burma and your history or is it all a big dark secret that hasn't seen the light of day? Maybe it isn't a secret but there is just nothing to say because you have a big hole where your mom should be. I hope you haven't given up the search if you have looked for her. There are people out here ready to embrace you. Ready to wrap you into their families. Ready to celebrate your presence. Keep looking Baby #1. Keep looking. I can't give you a mom but I can give you a sister and an aunt. They are amazing women. I'm not giving up and I hope you don't either. 🎄

Have you met Nickel? Probably not. This is what she looked like when she first came to stay with us. She still had that sweet fat belly and that wonderful milk puppy smell. Nickel was just on loan and we knew that was what we signed up for with Guide Dogs of America. We were puppy raisers for that organization and Nickel was our first puppy. What a joyous enriching experience. She lived with us for 16 months before she went off to prison. Yes, I said prison. During those months that we had her we were responsible for teaching her the basics and getting her socialized. She went everywhere with us. And I mean EVERYWHERE!. Doctors got used to seeing her sitting under my chair during appointments and she even was there for a surgical procedure. She went on vacation, stayed in hotels, went on boats to look for whales. We visited schools where she would be surrounded by children who all wanted to pet her and she learned infinite patience. Nickel would sit in restaurants and not eat the floor scraps that were inevitable and tempting. She didn't jump on furniture and didn't sleep on beds. She loved loved loved her crate which was truly a surprise to me. Nickel never saw a human she didn't like but she absolutely adored other dogs. She was smart, funny and loved to learn the new skills we taught her to be a good effective working dog. So how does Nickel appy to Burma, Mary or Baby #1? She doesn't. But I was thinking about her today. Missing her. Thinking about getting another puppy. Just thinking. So decided to think out loud.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Burma people. There are only a few of us but I value each and every one of you. I am thankful that my search for Burma has had such positive results and I continue to have hope in my heart that Baby #1 or her family will find us one day and complete this circle.
