As the Capital Region Goes Red, attention turns to the moments and stories that make heart health tangible. Not as an abstract cause, but as something carried by real people and families.
Last evening, Maria College President Lynne Ortale led the 2026 Capital Region Glows Red Ceremony as the campus was illuminated red in support of heart health and the work of the American Heart Association.
Among the voices shared was Erin Fortin, who spoke about her experience as a heart health survivor after suffering a stroke. Joined by her husband Brian, and their children, her story offered a reminder that heart health is not theoretical. It is lived, at times privately, within families and across years.
Throughout the month, more than 30 buildings, businesses, and landmarks across the region will glow red as visible markers of ongoing efforts in research, education, and prevention. In Glowing Red, they stand as signals of care, awareness, and the shared work of protecting what matters most.
If you are wearing red today or see an organization or local business participating, please feel free to message us directly or send a photo. We look forward to sharing moments throughout the month as the Capital Red Goes Red ❤️
