🚅 72% of respondents in a new Siena Research Institute- SRI poll are in favor of Metro's plan for light rail expansion!

🚅 71% of those polled in the Towns of Tonawanda and Amherst, where we plan to expand the rail system, support it!

“Over 80 percent predict that people will use it, and 42 percent say that they themselves will," SRI Director Don Levy says. "Large majorities think the expansion will provide reliable transportation into the next decades, connect people with jobs, and generate economic development, while some worry about construction disruptions and property values.” 📣👍

New Siena New York Poll:
If federal funding to NY is cut, more voters would reduce services (36%) than raise taxes (24%).

Nearly 7 in 10 are concerned about the closures of rural hospitals.

Trump and Hochul’s ratings are up slightly, but Trump remains underwater, and Hochul’s lead over Stefanik for 2026 has narrowed to 14 points. Half (49-37) say a Stefanik governorship would be bad for NY.

Special Newsday/Siena Long Island Progress Report on Affordability

While 74% of residents rate the quality of life on Long Island as excellent or good, a significant majority still express concerns about the affordability of living there. In fact, 85% say the availability of affordable housing is a problem, and 77% believe the cost of living on Long Island is too high.
