Elderly man fell off his floaty after waking up next to a real alligator in his pool.

In Florida, Ben had been relaxing in his backyard pool, floating in the sun, and ended up dozing off for almost half an hour. He had no idea an uninvited guest had slipped into the water.

When he finally opened his eyes, he turned his head and froze. A real alligator was floating just a few feet away from him.

Ben panicked, slid off the floaty, and swam around it as fast as he could before climbing out on the other side of the pool. The alligator didn’t chase him, but it did climb onto the floaty like it had decided the pool was now his.

His wife called officials, who safely removed the alligator and relocated it back into the wild. Ben said he was just grateful it ended with a scare and not a hospital visit.

But he still joked, “I bought that floaty for me, not for another alligator.”
