Good to know we can still make a difference and help Alternatives to Violence! ATV creates a safe place for victims of violence - this is vital work in our community! Let's help them continue to maintain their services. (Did you know the ATV SafeHouse operates at capacity nearly EVERY day to provide safe shelter for those who need it?)

Today was the day for our Purple Ribbon Breakfast. Although we hope to reschedule, canceling this event may prevent us from hitting our annual fundraising goal that is needed to maintain services. This is an example of a phishing scam that uses something current (PayPal's upgrade) to snag unsuspecting folks who just want their website's online payment options to work correctly.It appears to come from PayPal.

A word to the wise ... NEVER click on a link in an email like this. Go to your provider's website (In this case, PayPal.com), login to your account and see if there are current notifications. Or just call them from the number you have on file, NOT whatever number might be listed in the email.

BE SUSPICIOUS!

The Loveland Downtown Partnership and Business Alliance have signed up as Small Business Saturday Champions for our downtown businesses this year.

Here's some history: The first-ever Small Business Saturday took place on Nov 27, 2010. Encouraging people from across the country to support small, local businesses. By 2012, the United States Senate unanimously passed a resolution of support for Small Business Saturday, which has resulting in now over 50 States from Washington D.C., to Washington State bringing the event alive each year.

American Express has encouraged small business owners to take charge of the day, helping them promote their businesses with free personalized ads, which have appeared millions of times across the web. And, in 2015, over 95 Million people went out to shop and supported their neighborhood businesses like never before, continuing to embrace the day as a holiday shopping tradition.

The hope is to bring the Downtown District ALIVE with shoppers on November 27th. Let's go downtown.

This video of government officials says millions of dollars were collected from victims who were frightened into paying. What is scariest is how tightly targeted the victims were, the most likely to be taken in by a scam such as this. Their extreme coercion methods are truly despicable. Knowledge is power.
