Texas Corn Producers Resolving challenges & creating economic opportunities for Texas corn farmers through promotion, education, research & advocacy.

Texas Corn Producers (TCP) serves the state’s corn farmers through two organizations: Texas Corn Producers Board (TCPB) and Texas Corn Producers Association (TCPA). TCPB is a statewide board funded by a voluntary checkoff program. The program focuses on research, education, and promotion to further the corn industry in Texas, and to create better marketing opportunities for farmers. TCPA is where

advocacy meets action. TCPA is funded by farmer members. Working at the local, state and federal levels, TCPA members come together to ensure the important work of farmers is seen from the fields of Texas to the halls of Congress. TCP’s mission is to be a trusted resource that resolves challenges and creates economic opportunities for Texas corn farmers.

Talk about one heck of a ride🌽🤠

It was quite the privilege to celebrate our leader and friend, David Gibson, at his retirement party last week. We’re so thankful for his 27 years of servant leadership and the incredible impact he has made on behalf of Texas corn farmers.

As he gets ready for retirement, we’re cherishing the friendships and moments we’ve shared along the way. Here’s to David and his next chapter! Wishing you a wonderful retirement, David, you’ve certainly earned it.

Our farmer leaders rolled up their sleeves and got to work during our joint board meeting to set priorities and budgets for the year ahead. Here’s a quick look at what was on the table:

🌽 Producer issues: High Plains weather, stolen grain and other challenges impacting Texas corn farmers.
🏛️ Association priorities: Looking ahead to the next legislative session, including key issues like water rights and water use. Board leaders also met with Ag Commissioner candidate Nate Sheets and Speaker Dustin Burrows.
🎓 Investing in the future: The TTU Davis College of Ag Dean joined the board to discuss our ongoing support of MILE and Congressional Internship programs.

Texas corn farmers are facing high input costs, tight margins and challenging weather. We’re glad to see USDA’s Risk Management Agency provide some breathing room. Here are two things you should know:

RMA is authorizing Approved Insurance Providers to give farmers up to 60 additional days to pay crop insurance premiums, administrative fees and certain amounts owed for policies with billing dates between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2026.

RMA is also reinstating the option to purchase an additional 5% of prevented planting coverage for the 2027 and succeeding crop years, beginning with crops associated with the Aug. 31, 2026, filing date.
